Well done that man ..... :D

It was just a pity none of us were closer to help, you're 99 miles from myself and cupasoop , but as has been said ,we wouldn't have been able to help anyway ,sounds like a top mechanic you've got there :!:

Still waiting on parts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

took the chance (while all the upper & lower fairings are off) to give the bike a good clean, right into bits you cant usually get to,used a de-greaser spray & even if I say so myself, it looks very good for a '98,no body or swing arm problems I could see that would make alarm bells go.

You might want to strip, inspect and re-grease the suspension linkages- see the posts on here for more details (it's a sticky in Workshop), especially if you've been spraying de-greaser round them!
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

If the timing jumped due to the same reason then that is the rear cylinder, good news is that there are plenty of good rear heads available as normally its the front that gets buggered with cct failure.

Sorry to jump in

But could I raise a couple points

Are you sure the oil pump chain went south????
If it did then there’s a good chance the bearings are shagged and with the other damage cut your losses and fit a good second hand engine you should pick one up for £200-300 then its just fitting it

I’m sill finding it a bit strange that your having problems with to chains in the engine at the same time

Are you sure that the first prognoses was right with the oil pump if not and its just the valves that are bent this can be sorted without taking the engine out it’s about £30 for the head gasket, the valves are off hand £16 each and when the valves get bent it’s usually two of them that go it so that’s £32 and a set of new CCT while the heads are off hole lots just over £150 in parts and gaskets
If you know some one that’s handy with the spanners and workshop manual you could strip the head of the engine and have the bike shop fit the new valves and refit the head and save a fair bit on labour costs that’s assuming the pump chain didn’t go

its big----- its red ------its throbbing and it’s a thousand CC
