DIY Speedo Healer (electronics knowledge required)

Sadly I'm still just a beginner.. Google is my friend, but google won't tell me if the code is correct ;)
I can't make anything of it.

Maybe the coding is good but the hardware layout or my soldering isn't good.
I don't have a test sequence for voltages/resistance like for example: " measure between pin 1 and output, should be 100 ohm".

Have to go figure that out now I know the voltage is 5v due to the regulator, I know the ammount of ohm so I guess I can calculate the V after the resistor.

It would be nice to see someone complete this project and list a laymans how to. Parts required etc. Electronics is an interesting area and something I know very little about. The language is all gobbledy gook.

Thanks, will make a how-to if succesfull.
I've just been pointed out that the chip doesn't have a powerfeed, I have to solder a 5v lead to pin 14.
Hope that does the trick or else I have a long way to go.

After a good tip I made a +5v to pin 14, VDD and the program is now running on the board!
It's in test mode (all dip on) and the LED is blinking!

I have an old instrumentcluster of my Diversion 900 that I will hook up.
After confirmation I will make a new schematic (lot of work for someone who never did this) and compile a how-to PDF manual.

I think most of us could buy the parts and make up a circuit board. The tricky bit is the terminology of parts, knowing what does what and the programming side of things.

I don't expect too much interest..
For a small fee I can program and ship the chips if wanted.

though it didn't work out for me earlier, I maybe could make a few.
But it's really time consuming to manually make them, it often costs me money.
I'll have to think about it, your also stuck with warrenty and stuff..
Plus the casing needs to be waterproof of at least the board should be small enough to fit inside the instrument cluster.

Still havn't tested it, the RPM gauge I had left doesn't respond to the uitput signal (just tried that).
So I don't even know if it will work

Please also look at the original file, compared to that, you only need the +5v to the pic, the rest is optional and I've been told it makes is safer / more stable.

You can download the hex by clicking right and save as or just open it and copy paste to a notepad txt file, just rename it to hex and it will work.

Well, the speedohealer works on my car, but it's linear.
It didn't work on my motorcycle (where I need it) so I gave up, I cannot change the code myself..

I never had the "will" of learning how to program PIC's (tried it though).
Two options: Buy one for 80 euro (110 dollar) or look for another DIY version (which I haven't found yet).
