I only got the bike yesterday but on a steady run down the M1 I managed 93 miles before the light came on luckily I was just pulling in the services. How much fuel is left when the light comes on?

101 miles to red light on posh petrol and riding on a charity run at speed limit. Still a bit lean on the mixture screw too.

I'd say about 3 litres, cos when I filled up just after the light came on, I v nearly got 13 litres in and it's a 16 litre tank.

Since fitting the Flo-Commander, mahoosive fibreglass airbox and smaller jets I am now getting 110 to the tank- go figure.

With a 16 litre tank and a lot of people reporting c. 80 miles before the light comes on, that should mean c. 20 miles in reserve.

Right that's it, I'm going for the F.I.L mod, I have a spare K&N knocking around and an airbox plus carbs. :biggrin Now shall I keep the snorkel or not

I'll let you know in the week- removed mine today, actually just fitted a spare lid with no snorkel, so an easy swap back if necessary.

Just measured my fuel usage properly for the first time- I did 133 miles on 16 litres which is 37.8mpg. I guess that's about what you'd expect from a fairly-lively-for-a-newbie blat to the Isle of Grain plus stuff around London. Also, the handbook says 2.8 litres in reserve, so that's about 23 miles from light on to conking out.

Have you converted the bike to run on paraffin?

I did re-consider doing it for a recent purchase bike, but if I get stopped for a check, they'll a) smell it, and b) Customs won't be very happy with me.

I've run road bikes on paraffin before, and the last one was a 1978 CX! - pennies per gallon, and bloody good fuel return!!)

Can't remember what I was referring to there. I shall backtrack through the thread tomorrow maybe. Too tired now.
