if you get the chance to ride carls bike with the revolution tweaked front end, it might sway you, its very good,,,,,lloydie wrote:45mm :-) tbh I like kermit the way it's set up with the blade rwu 45mm forks and standard rear shock .Stephan wrote:regarding front forks, get the best possible on track. As I´ve never have problem on street, I feel lack of confidence on track with reworked and braced storm forks, when on brakes. I wonder if old blade 43mm forks can cure it.
So I now have more to think about -what bike do I fit the wp shock to ?
And what front end to use

Re: Lloydie's track vtr (miss piggy)
That what I was saying to arkrite tonight the standard reworked forks are good and up to the job .
Miss piggy will only get used a few times a year and I ain't no cal so no need for ohlins :-) and it has to be done very cheap I might even only put a standard engine in it for the first year .
Still plenty of time to decide what I'm doing as kermit will be stripped down and rebuilt first (this winter ) again .

Re: Lloydie's track vtr (miss piggy)
Get sebs frame powder coated and fitted to macs engine and all kermits bits bolted on and that will finish kermit .agentpineapple wrote:when you say stripped down, is that engine or everything?
Then I can take the old engine and frame to a friends to chop the engine out and fit the one I rebuilt from the seized engine into the frame and the build will start to take shape very fast a month or two till I run out of parts .
It should keep me busy over this winter with plenty to do .

Almost complete right hand fairing missing ear where then mirror was.
Both can be added to the pile of bits that were the clocks...

You can do it Lloydie, you've proved that with Kermit
Good luck with the build,
Chris.

great stuff lloydie - good luck with it, be interesting to follow progress.
Re: Lloydie's track vtr (miss piggy)
Well IMHO the real limiting factor with the stock front end isn't the forks but the lower triple clamp.lloydie wrote:That what I was saying to arkrite tonight the standard reworked forks are good and up to the job .

That is where I see most of the flex issues coming from.

It is a bit small and flimsy on the standard one

are you talking about young master virt again lloydie..............lloydie wrote:It is a bit small and flimsy
i do know of other forum members that agree with hawk, maybe a cheap fork brace will help, if i was you tho, i'd get the bike on track first and then gauge where you need to modify things.....

Re: Lloydie's track vtr (miss piggy)
Well it's having the braced swing arm so a nice stiff front would be nice

i always thought your front was stiff...........lloydie wrote:Well it's having the braced swing arm so a nice stiff front would be nice
tbh mate, i don't think the storm/blade braced swingarm makes that much difference in ridgity, i've ridden standard/braced back to back and any difference is minimal at best, it certainly looks better being braced. use ms piggy as a test bed and see what you think, it might be worth doing each big mod at a time, then test for a difference, before moving onto the next modification.....
