How would you describe the song of a dying CCT?

Post by lloydie »

Virt amcq house is easy to find ! I found it the first time without an address :-) .
It's like 9 roads from my house !
You can remember 9 roads can't you with that young memory :@
I'm surprised you haven't done them already tbh .
And the first time I fitted manuals the timing marks on my flywheel were off as the flywheel was located wrong so I went off the cams and tdc on the piston .
You will have timing marks on the flywheel you just don't know how to look (with eyes) :-)

We all know VTR CCT's have catastrophic failure, but can I point out that on many other bikes, the first sign of a cct going is a rattly chain caused by the spring going weak. this CAN happen on a storm, in fact when I got my storm it had an original cct that was doing exactly that. Changed to manuals and all been fine since.

Just pointing out it is not a fail or be perfect scenario, they can go through their normal lifespan and then weaken off.
Budget storm gradually on the road to spangliness.

Cause I'm a tad special, Wicky?

Lloydie I barely remember how to get to your house, in honesty

Here's something I found out today. When the engine is cold the noise isn't there, it's only once the engine is warmed and at operating temperature that the noise becomes apparent. No idea what this means, just thought it might mean something to someone? :? :?

If it's when its warm/hot it might be cheap shite oil, i had a top end noise on my old FJ1200 till i stuck decent oil in it.

Did an oil filter and oil change the day before the trackday. I stuck Castrol in it, same as is in all our bikes

Yes, it's between the min and max marks. It's only been 11 days since I put 3.9 litres in it

What about if I use this? Would today count as day 0 or day 1? I can't find any 1w40 oil.

Also, the 0w40 is full synth but my current oil is semi-synth. Does that mean combining the two would create 75% synth, how well does the firestorm run on that combination? It seems fine on semi, but apparently runs bad on full. Does this mean it will run decent-ish with the best of both oils?

Okay, will the semi last those full 24 hours? It seems like a lot of maintenance just to have the pipes clean for another day?

In terms of riding hard and fast, I do this regularly but the costs of hiring an escort to show me the best route is a huge inconvenience. Is it possible to do this on my own, do you know? I need to develop my own style and stop relying on others, but a lack of knowledge stops me

As for deep, I always tend to do it deep in the middle of nowhere away from civilisation. Does that satisfy your criteria?
