8O That's pretty scary, also how the high fat diet made him close to diabetes is confusing, I've always heard stories of high sugar intake causing such problems.

My thoughts exactly. The high sugar users body adapted to increased levels of insulin and dealt with the effects, however the high fat diet suppressed the production and found it far more difficult to balance the books when needed. There were many things raised which I found interesting. It's worth watching if you get the chance.
Watch how the rats deal with the high fats, high sugars and the combination of the two.

I'm going to have to watch it now  Do you think it's possible that in the past we have been given "dubious" food advise due to the influence of large food companies, like CocaCola etc?

What along the lines of "smoking is good for you" as the ads went in the 50's! Yep I'd say so.

I rekkon that sort of thing goes on a lot more than we realise. The big companies in the world have more power than the governments so use their influence for their benefit.

That will be me then. :biggrin I saw that programme, very interesting it was.

What's a Turbo trainer? When Al forst mentioned it I thought he bought an exercise bike for the garage to save him riding in crap weather.

What's a Turbo trainer?
Probably an indoor 'treadmill' on which to strap a road bike and training indoor warm and dry.

On a vaguely connected note - Fascinating the technical world of leccy bikes as I'm contemplating either electrifying my hybrid bike or getting an off the shelf pedalec http://www.burischbikes.co.uk / http://www.50cycles.com/electric-bikes/ ... t_xion_x27 . But it is a murky world of legality due to power restrictions.

You figured it out OK Carl..........A Turbo Trainer is a rolling road that you strap your bike into [MTB or road bike] and it has a resistance element that you can adjust so you can make your real bike into a static exercise bike with all the correct ergonomics and pedaling inertia.
so I can stay in the garage in the dry to get the week night exercises in while the weather is crap

Nice one!! I nearly went out but with the 50-70mph gusts, flooding and sub 10°c temps, I went to badminton instead :)

This was my weekend ride yesterday. Was only 32 miles, but I might have underestimated the hills! Was a 15% climb at one pont and it went on for a couple of miles.... I had to walk up the last bit :( , but was getting 37mph on the downhills :D
