What a strange day. :? It was my last day. I've had a fantastic 6 years working at Ordnance Survey and will miss it there dearly. I've made some great friends and overcome some big challenges.

Start my new job and a new set of challenges tomorrow

Already been invited to a barbecue evening on their balcony overlooking the docks right next to one of the bigger Fireworks displays in Southampton :)

Cheers you lot.

I had a great first day. Really pleased

Took me an hour to commute 7 miles though which is unusual. I'll be on the DRZ next week so that should be fun :)

God help you on the Sarf Circular, we take no prisoners, ask no quarter and give no mercy.

Although once I found a car coming the other way, with a wheel over the double white lines on MY SIDE OF THE ROAD and didn't chase it and kick it.
Sorry about that, I was hung over.

Anyway, fireworks on your first day, I know what that feels like.

It's like a job honeymoon........
After a while you can't bear the sight of it, then you get to the stage where you just get used to it, and sort of keep going, despite the nagging thought that life used to be better, and seems to be better for everyone else. You'll know when this stage has been reached, because you look forward to the fire drills.

But enjoy!

I'm not cynical, just have low expectations and am seldom disappointed.......

Thanks for those words of wisdom Tony. I'm sure I've heard Norman say something similar ;)

Ah, Norman Lamont, where is he now when we need him most?

And Maggie.

And hanging.

And the window tax- got none of those on the bike. There's loads on cars though.....

Talking of tax, have you noticed now that there is no tax disc cluttering up people's field of view in their car, how everyone seems to be able to see you coming?
Except of course the pensioners trying to look through the 6" clear bit on frosty days, and school run mums who can't see past the jokey stickers and piles of teddies.

And Maggie Philbin.

And hanging off, when my hip joints would let me........

And the Pole tax, you don't see many Polish people riding bikes. There's loads of plumbers, though.....
