The replacement starter turned up today, so I checked the contacts and they are great (came off a Firblade\), so I lubed the spigot and o ring, copper grease on the two studs and refitted. Then used a dollop of electrical grease on the contacts and used the replacement cover - job done !!!!

Cleaned mine up earlier this year, packed with boot with grease etc. Also stole a tip straight out of my son's WR service manual - put a cable tie around the boot to help prevent any water getting between cable and boot. Just though I'd share that.

Nice tip! It's great to see that starter back on a working. I don't think i have ever seen a starter stuck like that. Good job on that fix!
