Hey, hey, I am in Belgium too.
Living in Hoegaarden (yes, that Hoegaarden, beer place :))

I am not Belgian by origin, I have been transferred to Belgium by my company with my family and I work here long-term as local employee. I am here for 5 years already :) and plan to stay - as my son was born here, and both my kids are totally Flemish now

My apologies for no single word in Vlaams - I am almost fluent in verbal Flemish now but not in written :(

[quote="iggy1966"]If you look at Katmadam's last post then you'll see at the very top in the post subject line "Katmadam IS a woman"

I was actually suggesting that Kaz gives Yellafella a slap because he's a cheeky boy.
I may be a little thick but the word madam at the end of the name in my opinion did suggest that Katmadam was a female  Welcome Katmadam you will soon get used to our sporadic squabbling :o :lol

Top of the morning and welcome to the site Katmadam.

very entertaining

laughed out loud as i read 4 pages of gender queries and colour combat BUT did JJW ever buy the Storm.

:?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

Come on JJW. Its a fantastic bike. Dont be distracted by the everyman CBR. Join the V Twin club and ride a bike that SOUNDS like a bike should (at least it does once you change the exhaust)
Nows a great time to buy cos fancy rich people are off loading them to buy the next big thing (cheers for handling the depreciation) theyve read about in Ride magazine.
Thats not to say the bike feels old.

The "Glass" insurance industry guide book says a clean, year 1999 VTR is valued at
£3425 with 17000 miles on the clock.

A 2003 bike (which has the HISS imobiliser) is valued at £4350 with 3000 miles on the clock.

Thats the RETAIL price (trade is about a grand cheaper),
so if youre feeling brave you might get a better deal out of Motorcycle news if youre prepared to risk it. Although I have to say, once youre spending over a grand I prefer to pay a little more knowing I can take it back if something dodgy turns up after a weeks riding.

Funnily enough red, black, blue and orange Storms are all valued the same.
red is the fastest colour;)

My CCT went at 38,000 miles and has possibly taken out a big end shell as well (or vice versa). According to Roger at Revolution, UK bikes at this type of mileage will need some TLC! I told him about the phenomenal mileages of some US machines, but he said that this was largely due to the style of riding and roads in the US, and that UK bikes were far more stressed.

As Roger is regarded as the source of wisdom on the VTR, what doe the rest of you think?

I'm waiting for a replacement engine for mine - cheaper than the parts to repair.

Cheers all

Reckon ur right Strat, ...
Long distance touring in California climate vs A & B road blasts in rainy auld UK would make a difference...

Just over 28k mls and starting to hear ticking sounds from the engine... Bugger! Paranoid? You bet!

How much is an engine for the Storm?

Stu

after joining the forum, i didn't buy the bike because now i'm unsure which colour i should buy!!!! :D i really wanted to get the fastest one but i've gone from red to yellow to black to blue and back to red again.

seriously though, i didn't get the bike....just. the bloke had accepted my offer, but then someone caught wind of a VTR going cheap and went and offered 100 bucks more than i did, so i missed out!!!!!

so the road bike thing has been pushed back a bit. maybe i'll end up with a Hayabusa!!!

Have Fun

Buza

Post by stu9000 »

Never ridden a buza.
BUT remember the Honda build quality!

When I was raving about the Suzuki GSXR I was leant a lot of the feedback I got was "yes it can corner but it will break down".

Also, get a bike that FEELS fast (like a vtr).
I just got a notice of intented prosecution from riding th GSXR.
My fault of course BUT it was just Tooo easy a bike to ride very very very fast, where as the VTR is quite capable of riding fast but you know youre doing it.

Good luck

Jeff, Jeff, Jeff... Busa's (and R1s for that matter) are for people who want to look like they can ride, but judging by those I've met so far, they can't. I've yet to meet someone aboard either who can actually outride me & my storm... and going past me on the straights doesn't count when I then have to pass them on the corners...
