It's not about rivalry mate, it's about security and accessibility. You will notice that even youtube give the option of viewing in a HTML5 player now. It's the way the whole web is going. Flash is a dying breed.

Oh I'm well aware of Apple and Adobe falling out and no longer the best of friends. But Flash as an application was originally designed as an animation software when Macromedia first brought it onto the market. Web designers then saw a way of manipulating this to build Flash based websites with. It was later when Macromedia first introduced a video player when they saw the application being used for web design and video started to become more mainstream on a lot of websites.

The the problem with it is that it ties people into having to have a 3rd party plugin to view Flash media along with accessibility issues for those with disabilities and older computers. Also Action script (the coding behind Flash) is open to abuse and trojans, viruses etc along with marketing spyware that can be hidden within it. It was later when Adobe bought out Macromedia that the Flash player and Flash turned into more of a web based only software rather than for non web based animation.

But your missing the point, Flash is being deprecated, faded out. The main media player for websites now is going to be the HTML5 player. Apple have just jumped ship straight away because of their falling out with Adobe and abandoned it totally as a way to move forward. Like I say Flash is being deprecated and you now are starting to see a lot more websites designed using HTML5 and a lot more use of HTML5 players in use. Youtube give the option to view videos in the HTML5 player, Vimeo have now switched I believe and also a lot of other sites. Even Adobe themselves are discontinuing it.
n early November 2011, Adobe announced that it will discontinue development of Flash for mobile devices and reorient its efforts in developing tools utilizing HTML5.

I get all that Carl. My view was based on the issues between Adobe and Apple and not the security of flash. Which has always been a constant problem. That plus the fact i'm a samsung user  I am not an Apple fan unless they're fresh off the tree or in cider form.

I think it is sad and killing Apples roots as a desktop publishing platform. I really don't like the directions they have taken in recent years with a lot of their stuff. It's like they are sticking two fingers up at their loyal customers who have been with them for years, forgetting about the professional market and aiming at making money from the consumer market with gadgets and inferior software development.

+1

I almost bought a mac when looking to upgrade to something better for video editing, but stuck with PC. The above had a small influence on that decision.

The final straw for me was the decision they made to discontinue Final Cut Pro. That was a real bad move and there are now a lot of companies switching to PC's and using Avid because of it. All those companies that have now had to splash out a whole load of extra cash to change all their systems over and re-train employees. TBH I am just sick of the whole technology industry. It's all about greed and feeding the public with marketing crap, then once they have bought into it, they then change/update things and it all starts again.

Anyways, back on topic.

I tested out the Winding Road option on my new tom tom. These are the roads it took us down. It found us some really nice twisties  The camera don't do them justice.

hi all
well what a journey you have had with your tuono .I am the proud owner of a Storm and RSV1000 Milie had the storm about 5 years now and the RSV for about 1.5 years
two completely different bikes even though they are both v twins .The Honda is a lot easier to ride and i think the engine is softer and more usable everyday .
The Millie gains in the handling and weight department and looks really good even now that's not to say the rotax engine is bad its a amazing bit of kit but i think the Honda engine is better for every day use.
as for reliability the Honda has needed a battery ,R+R and 3 cct,s and a starter motor I used the bike for work for 2 years in all weathers while working a a care worker in the community and never let me down once.
The ape so far has cost me a speedo sensor , 4 plugs . a solenoid and that's about it. have changed the crap side stand to a Honda storm one And put a K+N in it.
2 great bikes and cheep to buy and insure too  All the best Balls

Thanks for reading through it balls. It is a different beast as you say.

One more upgrade to make for the time being (hopefully this saturday) and Thats a pair of PR2 or PR3 tyres

Having a bit of a problem with the nearside indicators. They are no longer flashing. They just stay on. I've replaced the relay with a new one. It seems they have been upgraded to LED on the standard circuit which means there must be some resistors somewhere that need replacing. They were working fine before. Can't be arsed to investigate it at the moment.
