Today I stripped my bike down to check valve clearances. I also re-done my CCT's for the fun of it. Actually I wanted to double check all my timing, something I have been meaning to do for a while. I was 1 tooth out on the rear exhaust cam and 1 tooth out on the front inlet cam so had to remove cams to reposition accurately. I layed a straight edge along the top of the cylinder head and against the cam sprockets to get an accurate reading as it's hard to see accurately with the frame and other components in the way. At one stage I though it would be easier to lift the frame off. Everything is spot on now. :D Valve clearances checked and all good rear exhaust spot on 12 though and the rear inlet spot on 6 though, front exhaust is spot on 12 though and front inlet was too tight for 6 though and 5 though was too much so it's somewhere between the two. Either way all clearances are well within spec so happy. I then gave the bike a quick wash and wax. I took plenty of pics today. Yet to take the bike for a spin so will go for a ride later. It will be interesting to see what difference the one tooth makes. The bike runs and sounds good.

Carbon frame protector will look even better when I paint my frame Black. That's just the standard rad mesh Seb. I have yet to fit the mesh you gave me. I'm waiting until I spray the bodywork then the mesh will be sprayed gold and fitted.

Gonna go for ride now and see how the bike feels.

Yesterday I did my cct's..thanks again carlos...today I fitted the fairing back on and marked out where it needs cutting so it will slide off instead of having to spread it to get it past the brackets, I also glued some plastic nuts on the inside where it joins to the radiator bottom brackets so I now have plastic numberplate screws/bolts holding itthere.....I also made a 2 templates..1 for where the inset indi's will be in the seat panel and 1 for the indi's that are going beside the headlight, then I washed and polished it...nice productive couple of days

a bit pissed off today, i thought i'd try to re-seal the rhs linkpipe where it meets the headers, theres been a slight blow since we fitted it, i'd used normal sealant and thought it was about time i cleaned it all off and sued some h/t stuff. what a pain in the but, after taking the can and linkpipe off, i cleaned up the area, applied the clear h/t sealant and refitted the exhaust, all going swimmingly upto this point, but after tightening everything back up it was apparent that the clamp was the wrong size, we had used a 51-55mm but it really needed a 47-51mm, no problem i thought, i have one spare, so i take it apart again, re-clean, re-apply the sealant, fit it back together, only to find out the 47-51mm clamp is broken and just spins without tightening.....grrrrr!!!
i couldn't be arsed to redo it again, i'll order a new clamp this evening, tomorrow i'll refit the 51-55mm and hope it hold up, because i'd like to go for a ride on sunday.
anyone know where i can buy a mikalor clamp over the counter in east london, it would save me redoing it again...

Went out on mine today. Did about 250miles and could not get comfy at all. Now my back and legs are killing me. First time ever it has been this bad. The new springs in the front feel great, maybe slightly soft but that is easily sorted. Can actually feel the front end dip under braking and feel the tyre being pushed into the road. Its amazing what changing the origional 14year old springs for new ones with new oil can do

Here is a pic of where we went today. Many of you will know it. There is also a cop sat just to the right of this picture with his engine running waiting for a unaware driver

sounds like you need thar seat doing pronto, fingers crossed mine will be hear tomorrow....
i noticed when doing the late night london ride the other evening, that the original seat was getting uncomfortable, maybe its done to the original shocks/spring, because with the blade front end and the hagon shock i never noticed the seat being uncomfortable...

Don't need gaskets, just a smear of silicon sealer.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

only to find out the 47-51mm clamp is broken and just spins without tightening.....grrrrr!!!
That will be the one I overtightened then. Bloody clamps are a pain the butt.

Well I just got back from my test ride and WOW!!!! I pulled out of my estate in first gear opened up WOT and the front end lofted up in the air LOL :biggrin It's not done that before, the odd little one when pulling hard out of side streets but not like this, it went right up. The ride went well and feels like it's got a bit more low down grunt so very happy. I shall have to wait and see how this affects fuelling.

I'm gonna wait until I have put some petrol resistant lacquer on my stacks. I want to do two back to back runs. One as it is now and one with the new stacks on. I will pop around tomorrow anyway.
