Honda VTR 1000 Brembo Front Brake Upgrade
interesting, radial calipers on a storm, not sure i'd pay that much for them, but i'd like to test them, to see how good they are

They look the nuts .
Fit a set of blackbird discs too with a 10 spacer on the calipers and a good master cylinder and you'll love it

Surely just because the calipers are radial mount doesn't mean these are radial brakes for a 'storm. Doesn't the bracket turn radial calipers into normal ones?

Look good but what is the best option? These with a different MC, CBR caliper/MC upgrade or something like PFM?

I haven't a clue regarding the radial or not radial.
but if it was me, i'd get a set of cbr600 f4i calipers and mc from the usa, there's loads available and they're about £80 shipped to the uk, you may or may not have some customs to pay, but you'd be hard pushed to find them cheaper in the uk.
throw on some braided lines, decent quality pads and fluid and you'll have a very good set of brakes
infact f4i, blade and sp calipers are all much cheaper on ebay usa.

Nick, I think the same as you, the flex in the adapter bracket will undo all the benefits of the stiffer Radial calliper concept. but it might open the door to using some bigger piston / pad areas.

Like Martypinapple said, the key here is getting the callipers with big pad & Piston area and matching the master cyl that goes with them..... and you can use lots of options

using the Fireblade / SP1 or 2 / CBR600F4i is the easiest to fit and good availability of doner parts.

Thank Al and AP.

I missed a Brembo MC this morning that went for £48. Tatty but nothing that would make a difference once seals were replaced. Watching a few MC options (11/16th and 19mm) while I think about calipers. It feels wrong to take metal off a caliper but looking at yours at Cadwell Al it didn't look like major surgery.

nick,
1) you can take all the material off the fork leg with no loss of strength, but I didn't think it looked as good.
2) radial vs normal axial Master cylinders ... have different leverage ratios, so you use a bigger diameter radial master cyl for the same calipers.

I think I did a summary in workshop knowledge section - here http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 90#p403308

if it's any help, I highly recommend sp2 calipers and master cylinder, Honda used a 17mm mc on the sp2 for better feel, the sp1 had a 19mm mc, it was the same for the 1999 to 2001 blade with a 19mm and then they changed it to a 17mm from 2002 to 2003, Honda know their stuff,,,,
I took some metal off the fork, so much easier imho, and you really can't tell when they're fitted
here's mine when I had the sp2 calipers and master... .
