If this helps at all without being to confusing...

Think about an 6mm thread for example with a 0.5mm pitch, you tighten it up a bit to much and strip the thread without having to actually turn that hard, just to hard for that particular bolt (am I painting a picture at all??), now think of the same bolt with a 1.5mm pitch and you over-tighten it, you would have had to turn it considerably harder than you would the 0.5mm pitch to get the same effect. If this makes any sense at all, you should be able to envisage the larger pitch coping with a larger force being applied.

Obviously there are other factors to consider when being anal such as size and modulus' of the material, well, actually they're probably the main ones!
I'm not death to power tools... If it breaks, it's obviously NOT a power tool!!!

Thanks Bleh makes total sense. Bigger the pitch - the more force it can withstand or to put another way can be torqued up more.

I think you also have other factors to consider such as thread form and class of thread, for example rolled threads are stronger than cut threads (something like 20%). With thread forms such as aircraft spec, which we use, have higher engagement and therefore are stronger than a standard threadform. Not that it really matters in this...

I would just stay standard anyway as despite the fact I can cut any pitch it'll always make it easier to get bolts etc for you later.
Why ask... sometime you just go to do it and find out?

That is a good point with getting new bits later on. I wasn't sure if a certain thread size is better than other because of all the different forces acting on it. I shall get some ordered soon and then I'll just need to sort the tube out to join the 2 rose joints together (length req) where to get it from ect.

I can do the bits either side for you so don't worry about them.. Just let me know if it is going to be different in any way to the standard dog bone width or position and a rough overall length.

It will be different to standard as the shock is mounted more to the middle ,
When we know what shock we will be using to give us the clearance we'll be able to take measurements of the spacers and tubes for the dog bone
