So nearer the time if we get an idea on numbers who's turning up and where  If Essex mob are at Brentwood for 9ish then that's probably a good meeting time for Lakesiside services as well. Gives us time to fill up, drink coffee etc before heading off once the Essex mob arrive.

How that sound peeps. :D

Er..???

Why not all meet at the same place at the same time? :confused e.g. Lakeside at 9am.

Will the Essex mob from Brentwood want to stop again at Lakeside & what happened to Marty & the London massive coming through the Blackwall tunnel are they then going to go back through the Dartford tunnel to get to Lakeside ?

The Storms tank range is bad enough as it is why add extra mileage to your journeys?

Someone sensible* out there sort it out.

You can't follow me this time I've only got to get from the house to the MacCave so I'm not getting lost.

I would do a double stop to meet someone or more people, not just saying that because I will be at the Lakeside stop, Brentwood wasnt on the way for me last time but I met people there.

Anyway I will be waiting at the Lakeside stop, I think a couple more people are going to meet me there.

the only reason i'm not going thru the blackwall is because you can't be sure it will be open on a saturday morning, so a quick blast down the A13 to lakeside (average speed cameras are front facing :D ) isn't a big deal, i just didn't think it was worth wasting the petrol riding upto brentwood and back. the essex boys don't have to stop at lakeside if they don't want to, i just thought it would be cool to get lost as a bigger group  rather than two smaller groups riding around lost and passing each other on the road, wheres macnav when you need him
your place looks like a piece of piss to find maccy. we just have to dodge the hgv's and the diesel spills
once in grain we just have to look for the house with the stolen porch
and mac i hope on the day yo turn to everyone and say TO THE MAC CAVE!!!!!!!!........... :biggrin

Ahh but where are you stopping before you get to Lakeside for your double stop?

The point I was trying to make Storming is why doesn't everybody all meet at the same place i.e. Lakeside services. Then you can all meet at the same time fuel up if ness, have a coffee n smoke then head off to Grain.

Of course more meeting points means more time waiting for all the blue bikes to finally show up.

The plus side of Lakeside is that it should take no more than 40 mins to Grain from there, at legal speeds of course, cough cough!

It will take a bit longer on a blue bike of course.

40 mins..........
more like 15 max i would have thought
its up to the essex boys, if they are happy enough to change there meet point to lakeside, thats cool, if not it ain't a biggie, if we can get everyone at lakeside early enough, then when the essex boys turn up, we can head off straight away, no extra cups of tea/biscuits anyway i'm sure you will have a cuppa waiting for us mac

The MacCave is coming along nicely Marty & should be fully functional by the 16th.

Not sure about whether to fit a Mac Pole as well for easy access as it will mean cutting a hole in the roof.

Re- Blackwall closure, information is available for that sort of thing, you just have to look.

TBH how you all get here is up to you, I only have to get up, get dressed & go to the garage out the back door. MacNav is fully programmed for that route. I have tried it without the getting dressed bit, but the neighbours complained.

They may well have a bit more to complain about on/after the 16th mind.

its next to the travelodge thurrock M25....
heading southbound/clockwise around the m25 from the a12, when you reach the a13 exit, take the slip road to the roundabout take the 2nd exit, which puts you on a road that runs parallel with the m25, stay to your left, DON'T rejoin the m25  , you will then see the entrance to the esso services on your left hand side.........you have arrived :biggrin
and its a nice sweeping left hander into the services, i'm sure we will hear you coming............

I'm heading up on me tod. Decision time - going to join Stormin and attempt valve clearances as I can find no reference to them ever being done. And if someone can help show us how to adjust cct's I'll be forever grateful :D

Any spesh tools aside from scanners, sockets, magnetic thing etc?

fila gauges,

gasket sealer to mount the re usable rocker cover gasket, mine came off when adjusting mine.

is someone bring suitable shimms? or are you bringing some?

make sure your stator cover plugs will come off before coming, as you will need to turn the bike over like when your doing cct's.

Cheers Bazza - shims are the thing I guess. I've not got any and tbh was wondering whether it's worth doing if none are going to be present as I understand you can only buy in advance a garage load! Hmmm maybe suspension set up, oil forks instead and leave the valves for when I've time to do and order up the sizes I may need.

Re: GRAINSTORM....IMPORTANT NOTICE!!!!!

Post by MacV2 »

OK folks, GrainStorm is fast approaching, numbers & space is not an issue however there are/maybe issues with what work is planned & how much can be done on the day.

Can everyone who is coming PLEASE have a look at the first post on this thread, if your not on the list* or the work planned is wrong** or things have changed, LET ME KNOW BY PM so that I can update list.

This is important as Dr Mons only has one pair of hands & has some concerns about the amount of work, some jobs will take longer & may not be practical to do on the day.

I have been having issues with getting online of late, so bare with me if you PM & don't get a reply.

* Lurkers, tea drinkers & bollock talkers this applies to you as well, if your not on the list let me know that you are coming.

** An example of this is BVG, down as poss head bearing swap now talking about valve clearances or fork fiddling.

Thanks in advance....Mac, Frank & 'Ole Red. GrainStorm 2012 Organisation Committee.

I'll bring shim sets, and Mac has all of the tools needed for head bearings, fork spring/oil changes/new seals.
Fitting or adjusting manuals is easy enough, converting to stopper mod is possible also but please remember:

To get everything done YOU WILL BE WORKING ON YOUR OWN BIKE not standing around watching me or someone else do it all for you.

Otherwise I'll only be working on one bike at a time, and only one or two will get done.

But plenty of help, assistance/guidance is on hand, to make sure you don't get it wrong.

Only a few sleeps- my big hammer's getting all quivery with anticipation.....

Oh, btw, if anyone's fitted gl-s-r's Ti caps yet, could you bring your old ones along in case they're needed?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I'll see your big hammer & raise it with my collection of hammers & a crow bar!
