so the cycling bug gets worse.

with a bit of help from the tax man (thanks to him funding 40% of the cost as the bike gets paid for before my tax is deducted as part of the cycle 2 work scheme), i have just ordered a £1000 full carbon road bike :D not got it built and delivered for a few more weeks yet :(

and I have just signed up for a 100km Sportive cycle event on the 7th june.

that means more time spent training so I don't look a tw@ on the day, and a further investment in carbohydrate based fuel for my legs rather than hydrocarbon based for the Storm

last week I broke a few personal barriers
1) I cycled a total of 90miles in the week [I should have gone out on Sunday and done an extra 10 miles so I could claim 100, but it was too much fun riding the storm :D ].
2) clocked 41miles in a single ride [only exceeded last longest by 1 mile but hey, its a new record till I do the 70 miler]
2) broke the 16mph average over 30miles on the saturday ride with the local cycle shop. fecking hot to be riding that fast but the beer after was the best ever.

Limited by law to a powered 15-16mph assist as per most pedelecs - but can go faster as my legs allow. Just began testing it up on some of my favourite inclines (hills are only north of Watford) and it purrs up em. A bit like the Storm with the low & mid-range torque! :cool2

I'm off to wales this week and am taking the MTB with me. The plan is to do 4 rides building up to 22 miles within a week.

22 miles may sound easy but check out the elevation profiles 8O
6.5 miles

9 miles

15 miles

My poor legs are already in turmoil from all the racquet sports!!

Wish me luck

7 miler done on Sunday. 10 of the 15 miler done today. Got beaten by an overgrown footpath. My legs are still tingling from all the nettles.

I am not used to climbing. The hills are a challenge thats for sure. :eek2

Today was the 100km sportive and it was great

Well except the rain :(

We managed to do 70miles in a total of 5hr....4.5 riding the other 30 spent eating, pissing, stopping for one of our team who fell off and again when his bike fails as a result of the crash.

Bloody knackered now mind
