Anyroad - for the day question. Is a) head bearing and b) fork re-oil/spring too much? Given the only place I know where to start is take the fairing off and jack/support the bike, then mull over the Haynes manual.

Also what tools recommended to bring for a) and b)
It should be do able in a day, will be you doing the work, but with the added help from those of us who have done this before you should have no problems getting it done. As the forks have to come out to do the brgs, it is only an extra 30 mins to do the spring and re oil work, so makes sence to put both jobs together.

Bring the bearings, springs and fork oil (7.5wt...so 1 bottle of 5 and 1 bottle of 10wt). I have the grinder and drifts and hammers.

Anybody who has an ABBA stand can you please bring the VTR adapters as I can borrow another stand from my mate but he only has the ktm fittings.
Can I call you Al?

Got the bearings and the springs (K-tech) - I'm also presuming I'll need new seals for the forks? Std OEM per 17 here http://www.ronayers.com/Fiche/TypeID/26 ... FRONT_FORK - any bushes other o-rings etc??

if the fork seals are not leaking there should be no reason to strip them down and change them, you can do spring and oil without splitting the fork down to its components. Also it is quite involved [we would need someone to bring a fork seal tool, as I get the local bike shop to fit the seal which they do for free as I buy my fork oil from them at the same time  ] so you might struggle to rebuild the forks and do the head bearings in a single session.

I just use the old seal as a driver; you can get them square by eye.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

no problem, didn't realise. Seals are all good, no hint of a leak or complaint

ok, so you only need to bring springs and oil for teh fork job, and the bearing kit for the steering...........

Can you also make sure that you know what total length [spring + spacer] that K-tech reccomend, I know with some springs you have to cut the spacer shorter to get the required preload....the stock spacer is 100mm

Ok so the list looks like: updated

Bigveegrin head bearings, rear suspension linkages, fork re oil.
Cybercarl pisstaking and banter and perhaps fork springs if he can be bothered :D
Lloydiecbr pisstaking, banter and perhaps valve clearance
Geodude pisstaking and banter if he can get a babysitter....just put her in the topbox.
Cliveyandrews and P - bottom!!! (yoke), Head bearings, biscuits and sarcasm
Steve6088 braided hoses
Noblevtr stopper mod and carb balance
Humberty stopper mod And valve clearance
KevL walking from the motorway as I won't allow any of those horrid blue bikes near our fast ones for fear that it's sloth pigmentation is contagious :D
PlayerOne CCTs and valve clearance - provisional
Dandyhighwayman - find missing power (bring yellow paint)
Buclandswifty - valve clearance
Seb - valve clearances
Adyf - stopper mod on CCTs

We will have the shim kit, but those doing valves or CCT mods need to check your inspection caps will come undone.
Those doing bearings make sure you have got a kit which includes the new top and bottom seals.
Carb balance make sure you have the brass adaptor to fit the front cyl, and a t-piece (although we can nip out to the aquatics shop for that and some hose if needed) .

Please add your name to the list if you want to come, and keep me updated if you have to drop out.
Location is B94 6qq, just off the M42 jkt4.
Get here about 9 for bacon butties, there will be no commentarative stickers, but you can have a used and greasy latex glove to take away.

Anybody else in or dropping out? I need to plan how much bacon!

Forecast is saying rain for Friday saturday and sunday, so I will try and borrow a gazebo or something so the bikes outside are under cover. We should be able to work on 3 in the garage, but that will be a 1st come 1st served!

Re- Bacon supplies for the day.

For GrainStorm I got in 4 packs of bacon & two loaves of sliced white.

I gave up supplying butties at nearly 11 o/c & still had 2 whole packs of bacon & a loaf left.

Bacon went in the freezer & the sparrows, magpies & seagulls got the bread.

Best off underestimating & if the ungratefully ingrates complain tell 'em to F off!

Helpful of Grain.

P.S. All the biscuits are now gone but I'm still working my way through the tea bags.

Right I have sorted out a 10ft by 20ft party marquee, and I have a few big tarpaulins, so we will have room to work on about 5 or 6 outside and 3 in the garage.

I think I have now got 2 paddock stands and 2 abba stands ( as long as some one brings a set of VTR mounting kits)

I am guessing the weather will knock numbers down a bit, but keep the faith...it might be dry
