Thanks for that, I will try the mediums when I do the front end swap on mine.

yes m8.... thats comparative to a 1000c bike putting out a shade over 200bhp lol!

downside = 60 miles to a tankfull, though it only takes 5L which isnt so bad tbh... and it will need a top end rebuild every 1000 miles or so.
im panning to do the 2012 scooter challenge on this - 7 countries in 7 days, including the gp at mugello.
wish me luck lol!
should be fun putting it to the rossi clones in tallyland :biggrin

Out again today for an hr...and had a play against my mate on his KTM SMT....fairly even match on the lanes and in the overtakes.....swapped over for a half hr and had a ball, but my god has it got snatchy fuelling in town!

Still happy to get back on mine (not just for the heated grips) but was strange to try and find the foot pegs as I pulled away, bit higher up than I remember

Still very impressed with the power curve and the noise from the new intakes.....will still do a dyno run in the new year, but fuelling feels pretty good for now

todaay i finished rubbing down the race fairings for the storm ready for a bit of fibreglass repair & respray... then was bored so i stripped the top end on my new scooter and set to it with the grinder.
took near enough 2mm off the cyl head giving a .5mm squish band which should make it well peaky :D
tomorrow ill have a look at the porting and see if i can improve on it a bit.
also the previous owner fitted the wrong clutch springs so it doesnt pull off til it hits about 6k... i'll fit a red set & some 5g rollers and see if its any better.
dont really want it doing 70mph... 60 is enough but id like it to wheelie away from the lights lol

also measured it up for an aux fuel taank cos it only holds 3.5L atm
ive got a spare 8L tank off another ped that just about fits under the seat... i reckon if i get the heatgun on it i can get it to fit nice & give a good 150 mile range.
just a pain refilling every 60 miles as its on premix.

speaking to a mate who tunes karts, 22bhp is not too much to expect from these engines! 8O

Managed to get out for a quick ride for the first time in over a month. Only about 50 miles, and still froze my hands off, but by f**k did it clear the cobwebs away  I`d almost forgotten how much fun this bike is  Then off to the workshop and fitted a power commander to the SP1 with a generic baseline map for the new cans, now just need to get it to the dyno to dial it in properly.

done some more on me scooter engine..... got some ally plte to make a jack-up spacer for the barrel.
using this porting calculator.... seems i am going to need a much bigger carb
Image
wish me luck lol :biggrin

*bah the forum cuts off the edge of the pic for some reason - anyway.... it calculates 29.6mm carb rqd & output of 21.6bhp :D

Fitted the Stick coils and the new wiring. All new connectors soldered and crimped and fitted into the original connector bodies with the little rubber seals. SWWWEEEETT.
Also fitted spacer plates to the radiators to move them back by about 10mm each side in preperation for fitting the 954 usd front forks. :)
Also stripped out the 954 forks and removed the springs awaiting the delivery of some K-Tech replacements of a suitable resistance for my bulk. Ordered up new bushes, seals and dust caps for the fork rebuild as well.

Just a little reminder if anyone is thinking of doing the stick coil mod I have a pair of coils and connectors from a 2003 CBR600RR left over for £25 if you fancy them.

Now onto the alcohol to numb the pain of another year flying past, Hey ho. Have a good one chaps & chappeses
