Managed to remove the damper from ck's old 954 forks . I did it by drilling the head off the Allen bolt in the bottom then using a drift to knock the damper out .
The remaking bolt was stuck in the bottom of the damper and when turned the valve and bolt turned inside the damper .
So a little more drilling and out it came .
I repaired the threads and tightened the valve back into the damper by Centure punching them together .
Seams to hold but I'll have to wait to torque it up to see if it's fixed it .

Gave me neighbour a hand with his sons YBR125, the donut had dumped it two days running. Too close to car in front jammed the front brake on & lost the front end. You'd think he would have learned the first time...

Trimmed up the throttle tube & grip as it was catching so not closing properly, junked the throttle return cable as that was crushed & kinked, straightened out the headlight bracket & checked the forks were straight.

Bloody thing was a pain to work on. To get the headlight off you have to take the front off where you then find all of the electrics crammed into the headlight shell & I mean crammed!

Just need a new exhaust now, the thing is rotten & had cracked where it joins the silencer & at the header...rotten & beyond welding...

Looks like a bag of poo now but it's more practical on longer runs

Fixed the petrol leak coming from the fuel level sender on the bottom of the tank. Sorted the blowing exhaust on the offside.

Also fitted some tank grips, not Stomps, they're Techspec Gripsters, made for an R1 but they look alright and are super grippy for your knees.

Firkin seat lock won't lock down tho

Me and Lloyd fitted the linear springs to the new forks. Reset the damper rods, set up the suspension and they we worked a miracle......... Fixed the old forks which I replaced with the new ones ah well to be fair Lloyd did the hard work over the weekend, I just gave him the push to see if it worked.

Not just today but a bit now and again over last few weeks. Electrics back in, new rear light, indi's and number plate, tail plastics back on.


New wheel bearing dust seals, chain and sprockets, rear caliper cleaned etc, back end all reassembled and torqued up. Bling hangers fitted and cans trial fitted, think they need a bit messing with to get right Looking a bit more like a bike now

Looking good Andy. Will be nice to see it when its all back together. That's my project for this winter. Full strip, clean and rebuild.

I'm more excited by the tools. Nice torque wrench and a pair of side cutters there. Oh and the bike looks immaculate. So what's the issue with the cans?

Different hangers giving slightly upswept look and different cans. Problems getting clearance for chain above left link pipe, tight to swingarm and not quite symetrical! May put standard hangers on till I get back from the TT!

Thanks Lloydie, don't hear that said about the colour very often brought a tear to my eye
