Chaps i've got my self one of these for on the bike, it came today 100% better quality than I expected,
got it in XL and is a perfect fit for me over say leathers or jumper and jeans and that
very thick great quality doesn't look to bad either, was gona get a cheap one but thought wombles it buy cheap by twice init, this is very very well made and its not often i praise stuff i'm usually quite blunt with stuff if it doesn't cut the mustard
when it pisses down i will take it for a spin and report back
sick of wet baldrocks so got it

Also bike back together now but now the parinoa has set in have i tightened the cam chain cover bolts properly, did i use loctite? have one of the seals on the underside of the cam cover dropped away when i was putting the cam cover back on...
is the chain too tight?
i could not get a wombles answer off any of the people on the gixxer sites that are supposed to be like the Tony's and Carl's of this site if that makes any scene, they can talk it but when you ask for direct info no one stumps up make you wonder what work some of these guru's have actually carried out, APE was no wombles use at all, website it directed me to for instructions was no longer active
so decided what im gona do is replace the spring inside the Auto CCT and re install that, will picture the new and old one next to each see if there is any difference
Bike sounds so much more crisp and aggressive with the throttle body cleaned up also

so decided what im gona do is replace the spring inside the Auto CCT and re install that, will picture the new and old one next to each see if there is any difference
Err

You have gone to all the grief of installing manuals and now your going back to the auto's. Sounds to me like you need to have a bit of confidence in yourself mate, we all get the did I remember this or that and start worrying from time to time. On the other hand it's not a bad thing keeping the auto's as it not a major catastrophe on them bikes if one fails.

inspecting them mate they appear they cannot fail, if the spring goes the spring goes, there is still a lever arm locking the arm in place, ive ordered a spring for a few quid and another gasket
i'm thinking maybe the spring has lost tension and does not have the strength required to push anther few clicks against the chain that it required, the chain clatter has gone now with the manual but now its like a whooshing chain noise so wondering if its to tight
its not that i lack confidence i was sort of rushing the cam cover as the bird turned up and wanted food and that, when i continued was when she had gone home around midnight so don't think i was paying as much attention as i should have been.... possibly

That's like the Yamaha ones. I think that the same design as those really stupidly expensive ones made in Germany for the VTR as well.
Sometimes the tension can get caught between two teeth or right on that borderline so may sound a little noisier for a while until the chain stretches a little or the bike gets a good thrashing and it slips into place. Rock solid tensioners compared to Honda's. I think there's two springs, the main one behind the shaft and little one for the little lock/lever for the ratchet bit.

wombles rode it to work, engine felt well tight if that makes sense, kept it below 3k and took it easy gonna try strip bike and back it off a bit before setting off home in the early hours. Hope it's not done to much stress on the crank or cams

Oh god, so I took the bike apart at work and loosened the CCT off another half a turn, felt a little better but still felt to 'tight' on the ride home so again just tickled it back home as gentle as i could do
Will try another half a turn when i wake up at some point I'm wombles shattered as it was a busy shift at work with all the back log because of bank holiday
god I'm so hungry off to make beans on toast
hopefully the spring will be here soon so i can put the Auto one back in with a fresh spring
might even get the train to work and walk home again so I don't have to use the bike till i can get the automatic back one in with its fresh spring, I'm sure the Manual CCT is fine to use but need a definitive guide like carlos did one here with how much slack they should have and where measured etc, ill trawl some GSXR sites and try find one

from reading it sounds like people basicaly run the motor then back them out till its starts to get noisy then nip them up quater of a turn

the actual ape instructions are hard work as it says
INSTRUCTIONS
To set the tensioner adjustment, rotate the engine forward while screwing the tensioner bolt in. When you feel the engine tensioner parts (guide, rollers, etc.) make contact with the moving cam chain, back the tensioner bolt out 1/4 turn and tighten the jam nut. (For the finer pitch thread on the APE Pro Series tensioner it is advised to back the tensioner up 1/2 of a turn.)
DO NOT over-tighten the cam chain, as cam chain guide damage could occur. Be sure jam nut is tight against the tensioner body when complete.
the screwing action is so tight you cannot feel it make contact with the guide, only when its pressing on the chain, also rotating the engine with no tension on the chain sound's like its asking for the chain to slip
looks like most people ignore APE's guide they provided
ill try the backing out method till it gets noisy then tighten a quater of a turn and lock it in then test ride it.

I set my manual ccts to 7-5mm off movement in between cams, all seems ok.i can send you fitting info if you give me your email address.

WTF Is that a con or what. Pro Series my butt it's a bloody bolt. Mmmm maybe it a Pro Bolt
Back them off some more Seb 1/4 turn is hardly anything if overtightened too much. What measurement (slack) in the chain did you have. Get some sleep first though as it's no good being tired mate.
