Not the best day! (a Deer day out)

Post by Beamish »

I have just come back from a very short ride out, 3 miles into our ride a herd of Deer lept the fence right in front of us 8O . I choose a gap and missed a young buck by inches but my mate ......

As you can see hit one head on, unbelievably he stayed on 8O

We must have ridden the same road 40 times and never seen deer at that time of day, it was a wake up call for both of us. We were just warming up with cold tyres and the roads still a bit damp so pretty much national speed limit. The first Deer passed in front of me with two following and luckily enough the second youngen switched back giving me a gap, I looked in my mirror and saw Graham hit one of em square on in a shower of plastic, scared the living sh1t out of me. There was headlight relector inside hid bloody visor 8O . A car driver stopped and finished of the deer with a hammer (it was not in a good way).

Anyone for venison

Was it a Roe ?
Just like driving over a tree, a fair shock to the system and the bank balance.
I clobbered one a few years back, and to this day when I pass along that section of road I just chug along. The thing is that you might never see another in the same spot.
sods law.
Hope your mate is ok as it fairly knocks your confidence.

Cheers

Phew!
Lucky escape 8O That could have been a lot worse.
I saw a van totalled by a Deer a couple of years ago and needless to say the deer was too.
Oh and hats off to the farmer who had him away before the police even turned up.

Read up Squiffy, someone finished it off with a hammer cos it was in a bad way. Having just eaten the fairing of a 60mph gixxer i imagine it was not in the best of health.
Yep as Timbo says it was not a well animal, we took a second look after a return to the accident site to scout for bits of fairing/useful bolts. Felt a bit sad but then again it was not my bike that he committed Hari-Kari in front of. Oh and just for the record it was a Reindeer! One of Revesby Estate's little Santa pullers, looks like the sleigh might be short of Deer power come Chrimbo!

I do hope you're fully exploiting the "you b8stard, you killed Rudolph" angle.

Wow. So lucky in so many ways... Your mate's okay... It was only a Suzi that was knocked about... The list goes on
If you ate yourself would you become twice as big or simply disappear?
