tail tidy

Post by chuxsta »

been looking at the usual places and cant find any dedicated tail tidies for the storm...

as i have not taken any bits off mine yet i dont know how things are mounted etc..

would a universal tail tidy such as this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TAIL-TIDY-Univers ... otohosting

drop on with next to no issues..

Chuxsta,
just had another look at your bike pics & noticed you've still got the OE undertray ,were you thinking of shortening it or replacing it ?.Most of the brackets seem to favour aftermarket trays.

so is the plate holder part of the current tray on mine at present..?
or is the current plate holder a separate part.. cause on all my previous bikes its been separate..
i have not had chance to look as of yet.. and pardon my ignorance.. OE ?

well after looking most the undertrays i have seen come with tail tidies built in so the original post for a tail tidy is no longer needed i suppose..
also im getting a rear hugger, that current crappy mudd flap i presume is easy enough to rip out.
might attach it to a stick and sell it as a one off unique custom spanking paddle on ebay.

Yes mate
its all part of the same of "ugly"(IMO )Origional Equipment(OE) back mud guard :!:
Most of the aftermarket undertrays require you to cut away part of the Honda tray when fitting. As far as which to buy i'd steer clear of the German firm GFK as afew on here have had bad experiences with quality & dimensions .
As far as huggers go ,mines a Pyramid, looks good, but the chain guard bit does run offline with the chain at the rear sprocket & yes you can do away with the crud guard, just held on with 3 -4mm allen screws.
Keep us posted with what you decide on.

well i just mailed them back asking if its available in matched colours or primed ready for painting... if it fits all models of the storm and if there is a hole mount for the lock for the seat...
the site is rather bleak on details...

they got some nice stuff for other bikes as well..

for the ones interested in this, i know okcocky was asking...
update on my mail to them....
here is their answers

Hi Stuart,

here are the answers to your questions :

1- This part comes primes ready to be painted.
it can be painted color matched but you would have then to add an extra 95 euros.

2- There is a hole located for the lock as you keep the original system.

3- The part fits your 2004 VTR.

4- We can remove the signals if you wish, but you would have to add an extra 10 euros.

If you have any other info, don't hesitate to ask.

Thank's,

Paul

Thats a spanking deal I reckon! Can you stick a link to said company for future ref.

It's a shame the euro xchange rate is so shite at the moment!

As to the paddle thing. If there's anyway you can remove it without destroying it - I would take it off your hands! I won't be spending any more money on mine for a wee while and my "flap" has split down the middle somehow.

If yours is any use could you sort it for a minimal fee + postage? If you do I will arrange for naked dancers to stand wherever you park your newly acquired storm to defend it from undesirable attention!!!
