What has honda officially said about CCT problems?

Post by biscuit »

I'm having problems with a dealer getting my bike fixed after the front cct has taken out large parts of the engine :x . I wanted to confirm whether Honda have ever acknowledged that this is a problem or not?

As far as i know there has been no official story about the CCT's, they are ignoring that there has ever been an issue with them, i'm sure others who have had probs might enlighten you on this, such as Iggy maybe.

how common is this CCT issue..

cause on every storm page /forum there is always articles about the CCT issues dmg and prevention etc..
yet when i mentioned it to my old man it was the first he had heard of it..
he and 4 of his mates all had storms at one point and they rode them hard.. and cause my old man has been in the bike trade since he was a kid i would have thought he would have heard something about the storms from the shops n stuff..

so is this CCT issue as common as reading all the pages n forums make it out to be?

the firestorm isn't the only bike in honda's range to have them, i think the blackbird and a few others have them, it's not that common, if you take the amount of storms out there against the number that it's happened to its probably a small amount, you just hear about it cause it's expensive to fix and a general horror story waiting to happen.

mine went twice!!!!

first time caught it fast enough.

second time the front cylinderhead ate its self in a fit of cannibalism!!!

cbr 6 has the same tensioner mounted the same way!!!

honda say there is no problem but oil dont flow up hill!!

rear pot is fine as the tensioner spring is always wet!!

the spring breaks right at the top where its dry and wears away!!
