No? - Well look it up - it might just 'pay' to!
Basically it's a 'local' way of recycling unwanted goods and 'junk' rather than sending it to the tip. Or getting hold of something you want - and all for free!
If you don't mind loads of e-mails filling your 'inbox' it's brilliant. Ideally if you're using Outlook or PC based e-mail software, you can set a filter up to divert all the freecycle mails to a subfolder to be sorted and deleted at your leisure.
The header of the mail tells you what's being offered and where it is, so you don't have to open the mail, if you're not interested just delete it.
Anyhoo that's not really the point of this post....
One of the engineers who works to me in Sheffield area received a phonecall from his daughter one afternoon last week to say there was an old motorcycle being offered! He has an old Norton (late 60's) and a friend with a few bloody old bikes.
The description went something like this...
Very rusty old motorcycle in shed, large engine in 'V' configuration and unusual forks (I'm thinking girders here). It has a shiny tank (I'm pretty sure I know what it is by this point) The name is difficult to make out as some of the letters are missing. The last letters of the first word are "ough" (Deffo) the first letters of the second word are "Super"
Feck me a Brough Superior!!!! Me Grandad had one which (I hope

My mate (engineer) was beside himself "get an e-mail sent to say you'll have it" - "now" - "just do it"
Well this was about 4 hours after it was offered - turns out some lucky lucky lucky lucky Bar Steward had replied within the first hour!!!!

Suprise suprise!!!!!!

Whoever it was must pinch themselves every morning, go to their garage and peek through the door, just to make sure they didn't dream it!
I know I would!

Wor Lass has seen people ask for cars and motorbikes before and get them! Obviously this is not so frequent but it is a good way of shifting stuff that's no longer of use to you but may be some good to someone else.
So these people and magazine articles that say that barn / shed finds have long since dried up are talking absolute TOSH!
Right I'm off to post that I want a 1938 Scott or a Nice original Panther 100 (with the matching sidecar of course!). Perhaps a Vincent (HRD) Black Shadow, not bothered if it's rusty - I'm not fussy!
