Busters Bars and angled risers

Post by bikerpiker »

Just fitted angled risers and superbike bars from Busters, didnt want to cut tooo much from my fairing ,so cut a bit (20mm) off the bottom of the risers,at the same angle as they were.
Problem was, with the reduced height due to cutting them, the bars are now touchin the rear of the the fork tops, and restricting me from fittin the risers in the middle of the yoke, therefore my risers are overhanging the back of the yoke by approx 10mm ,which i will cut off to make it look better.
Also couldnt use the 2 threaded holes in the bottom of the risers, cos one would have missed the yoke, so drilled n tapped one in between.
The only way i could've fitted the risers on yoke without the overhang would have been to lower the forks by around 10mm,enabling the bars in the risers to clear the tops.
Too late now,as the're fitted :? ,....but...would dropping the forks by around 10mm have had any ill effect on the steering :?:

Yes, it would be as slow and cumbersome as a slow and cumbersome think running wide.

People say the have dropped their forks when usually they mean they have dropped the yokes, which will speed up the steering. Standard geometry makes the Storm run wide, so you wouldn't want to drop the forks any more, IMHO :)
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

bars risers mirrors

Post by bikerpiker »

Cheers stratman :D
I did wonder, but left mine as is .

Much better ridin position for me now,and for less than £50 delivered it was a mod worth doing.
Only thing is, bars touch mirrors on full lock, and i've got an even better view of my elbows now, might buy mirror extenders from ebay(usa is cheaper)...or bar end mirrors.
cheers
