got myself a new toy

Post by patty »

bought my mates r1 of him today , :D

its a 200/w plate in blue, and ive known the history of it for the last 5yrs as my other mate had it before the mate i bought it off.
theres no tax or mot on it ,as its been sat in my mates garden for nearly 8 months ROTTING

anyhow i rang him on the off chance today to see if he would sell it .
and he said yes.
so i took it of him as it was (without a battery aswell) for £1700 :)
pushed it back to my house (live right round the corner :) )
gave the thing a quick wash(looked better already)
put the storm bat on it and it fired up first push of the button.
could not remember the mileage...20,000 came up on the dash ,so not to bad.
so ive got something to tinker with for the next few months.
i did try and put a piccie up ,but its to big,and i still dont know how to downsize them

pat.
p.s dont panic either ...the storms going nowhere!!!!
although i might have to change my sig lol lol
yellow all the way...
who needs 4 cylinders when 2 are this good!!

storm no more...rsv power now.

Sounds like a bargain Pat !

If you use http://imageshack.us/ for posting pictures it's dead easy.

The Firestorm UK toolbar has it built in under 'image hosts'

Open Image Shack, click the Resize Image ckech box, and use drop down menu to choose 640 X 480 (for message boards)

Click the Browse button and navigate to your photo, then click the 'Host It' button.

When it's finished uploading picture, go right to the bottom option 'Direct link to image' copy the contents of the box (double click will select all).

In your post type Image

Image

Job done.

yes mate ,
street bars fitted to a mfw top clamp(very comfy!!!)
as for the front end, normal forks (which roger will be working on soon)
with pfm cast iron disc and pfm 6 pot calipers. finished off with hel custom made lines.
stops on a sixpence, and once roger has done my forks ,it should work well.

Looks ace :!: ,
ive done a bar conversion as well, but fitted superbike bars which are kinda straight, a big improvement for me, but still not perfect. Yours look like the grips sweep back at more of an angle, think i'll try a diff set of bars similar to yours :!:

these are the prices in the parkers guide
2000/W
Original Price £8,599
Independent Dealer £2,350
Private Good £2,225
Private Poor £1,785
Part Exchange £2,035
so i reckon by the time i mot/tax /ins etc it will owe me around 2grand.
but ive not seen any under 2.5 grand.

i should have really looked before i bought my storm...
the last time i owned a bike insurance + bike cost and running costs were insane when i looked at the high end bikes..

but some things changed.... the amount i paid for my imaculate low mile 04 storm i could have spent 1k more and got something hot off the press ...... or even something wombles 10x more dazzling from the same year..

update:

well ive been cleaning the r1 for the last week,
gave it a oil and filter change, put a new battery on it,
cleaned and regapped the plugs(looked new so didnt bother changeing them)air filter looked clean aswell,
could not balance the carbs as i dont have the 6mm adaptors in my carb balancers(had them so long i only got 5mm ones with mine , and 2 of them r on the storm)-if any one has any 6mm ones i will buy them!!!!!

got 2 new 014 tyres, and whacked it in for a mot.............................

well it passed with only a couple of advisorys(silly things that i will sort out)
so im well happy.all cleaned and ready to rock and roll.
roughly worked it out ,inc insurance it owes me about £2150 ,
so if it all goes pear shaped with my money ,i think i should still come out with a profit(even if its a small one)

p.s it goes like s**t of a shovel!!,and the brakes r awesome!!the money i spent on my storm ones ,and these buggers r better standard!!...
i now remember why i fitted them to my zzr1100 when i had that.
(note to self..get some r1 brakes on the storm..somehow   )
