HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
Re: Miss Your Storm - Would you? Do You? Why?
No I wont be going back there. It's took a lot of thinking to work out what I want next, and 2 things I keep coming back to are that I prefer twins and specifically Honda's. The longest I ever kept a bike was 4 years, that being my first storm. I traded that in 2006 for a brand new blade, which should on paper knock spots of the old vtr, but it was gone after a year. My favorite bike ever I had to sell cos I was in need of cash, that was my sp1, broke my bloody heart.Kev L wrote:Welcome back Lee. How long after purchasing the next storm will a CB1300 be beckoning you do you reckon!!!
The main bug bear with the storm was fuel range, more specifically because I like to go away most years, and 100 mile fuel range is a pain when touring. This year I went to the alps on the CB1300, and 2 things happened which made me decide to do future trips differently. 1. It pissed with rain from Calais to Grenoble, 700 ish miles and 2 days of crap, and 2. My mates Blackbird developed an engine fault which meant he ended up coming back with his bike in the back of a van. From now on if I do any more euro trips, I'll be vanning the bike and all my kit to a destination, and going on rideouts from a fixed base. Also then if the weather turns while there you have another means of transport. Also means trip costs can be cut by a big amount, as camping in relative comfort becomes an option due to being able to carry the gear. I don't personally mind camping, but its a pain on a sportsbike.
I knew all this before, but didn't have a van......I've since bought a nearly new Renault Trafic for work. With this in mind the crappy fuel range doesn't bother me any more.
If my work picks up and I can afford one, I'd love another SP1/2 but a decent storm won't upset me either. Thought about a Mille, but looked into it a little and think the little niggles with them would piss me off. Don't want a Suzuki, build quality is shite, and Yamaha don't make a twin.

Miss it yep it's been two months since I road it last and now I have the winter blues too :-( withdrawn and depressed not good
Re: Miss Your Storm - Would you? Do You? Why?
I haven't ridden in almost 3 weeks and I'm dying here. I can't imagine how you must feel If you've still got insurance you can have a little go on a restricted VTR Provided you don't try and wheelie it like you did the bloody hornetlloydie wrote:Miss it yep it's been two months since I road it last and now I have the winter blues too :-( withdrawn and depressed not good

Only had her for a few months and missing her already, kind of. Feeling love coz of all the work I am havin to do, however, should have stayed riding for now then done the work later
Re: Miss Your Storm - Would you? Do You? Why?
I binned my storm back in June and although my injuries prevent me from riding anything in the near future I do miss my storm. Full recovery permitting my long term goal is to get another for next summer!and although I only had the pleasure of riding my storm for one month to the day of my accident I'm ever hopeful to be riding a storm again!

Re: Miss Your Storm - Would you? Do You? Why?
This is my second Storm and right now I can't see me parting with it. Had allsorts before....Buell Lightning, Victory Vegas, BMW R1100S and others, but prefer the Storm in most areas. Closest comparison (for me) is the Buell for the ride, but the Storm nails it for speed.
Twist it 'til it breaks, then back off half a turn....
Re: Miss Your Storm - Would you? Do You? Why?
In the near future I certainly don't see myself part with the Storm, I just have her 4 months.
Maybe once upon a time I will buy a naked twin to replace her, or just keep her Time will tell!
