Rebuild time tomorrow morning

Post by mozza71 »

Right, got all but the fairing so tomorrow morning the work starts, Got the front end all sorted now (Thanks Andy C) so drop me lad at nursery and get stuck in. will fit my knackered front wheel for now, this way i can get it out of the garage and at least wash it all down.
thought about cutting the knackered fairing down to leave just two rad guards, but not sure how it would look so im bidding on a fairing at the moment, see what happens.
i would post pics on here but have not worked out how to do it yet so i will just update my link in the signature if anyone wants a look.
cheers for now

Ouch! I hope the fella riding it at the time THAT happened came off better!
Takes a serious whack to bend a fork, let alone snap one!

You're doing the right thing by fixing it. Remember to take your time and think things through....i'm now suffering for my over-enthusiasm earlier, but hopefully your old forks will sort that out tomorrow!
Perseverance takes too long....

Hey Mozza,

Have you seen this fairing?

http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11881

OK it's a track day fairing, but 'any port in a 'Storm'' :)

Could probably dremel it for headlight aperture, unless it already has hole blanked.

Cheaper than £135 +vat +Shipping from Dave Silvers and that's just for each side fairing. Still cheaper than Honda dealer though.

'Nice' photies BTW - reminds me of when I managed to parallel 'park' mine upside down next to the Fiesta who's bonnet I 'Flew' over.

*nb* check the bottom yoke for square! - Unless you got another for it.

Ok, all back together, have used cable ties under the nose cone as that section fo the fairing is destroyed, just need to source some discs, fill the pin hole on the rocker cover with some good old liquid metal and away we go, as long as i win the front wheel that is.......
pics are updated now on the link.

whooo hooo, won the fairing on ebay, just hope he sends it asap, seller is new to ebay and this is his first transaction, paid via paypal so fingers crossed it goes smoothly and quickly
All i need to do now is wait for the discs from AndyC and the wheel from Beast and im sorted (wheel is being delivered tomorrow) so should be somewhat roadworthy anytime now.

Great stuff... just make sure you balance the wheel as the weight fell off sometime ago.
Apart from that no probs.
Have fun. :)
