Remus cans
Remus cans
First post here Gents so be gentle.
I have been away from bikes for a few years, but got the urge again!
I bought a Firestorm last week, nice bike, yellow (so not the fastest colour apparently)
It’s a 97 with 9000 miles on the clock.
The question is; it came with Remus grand prix cans but how can I tell if they are the street legal variety?
There are no other markings on them apart from the maker’s name.
So far the only complaint has been from the dog; he certainly thinks they are too loud!
Thanks
Alan

Thanks for all your comments, I have just checked the MOT certificate and on the testers comments sheet it is noted “loud exhaustâ€.
I think the tester must like it!

Hello mate and welcome, working for hein gericke we sell heaps of remus cans.
if they are the remus grand prix revolution then they should be road legal with a removable baffel. depending on how old they are.
if you can post a pic i will be able to identify them immediately mate.
easist way to tell if they were is on the outlet spout underneath there should be a small 8mm hole where the previous owner would have drilled the rivet out to remove the baffle.
if there is NO hole then they are the revolution Race can in which case they are NOT road legal. but at the ned of the day i have had 4 storms all with race cans on and never had any bother, plus the remus cans are not that offensive compaired to other makes.
are they Carbon, Alloy or titanium.

The etching at the bottom of the exit pipe tells all
I bet it used to say NOT FOR ROAD USE Polish that area up to a mirror finish then the clued up bobbys wont point it out to you after a look round. I would stick with them, mine were v loud and I had no hassle during ownership.
