how do you change the fork seals

as the post says can anyone please advise me on how to do them , what oil to use and how much etc etc

Just done mine and there not too bad if you dont get a seized one :evil:

Either balance it a bit precariously on a jack from underneath the sump or if your lucky use an engine hoist on the frame or a frame stand.

Their pretty easy to dismantle and if you follow the images redstorm has linked for you you'lle be ok. When you have removed the internals and all the oil is safely poured away!.....

Remove the dust cover with a screwdriver (gently). Remove the inner circlip with the screwdriver (gently - try not to scrape the inside of the forks)

Put the bottom of the fork in a vice where the brakes bolt on (not the casing as this deforms the tube slightly making it tighter).

Now pull the fork leg back in sudden sharp movements and the bushes inside the fork leg will force the old seal out.

Clean up and rebuild!

I got my seals from here - they have two tensioning rings and there are other ones with one ring which fail instantly. Beware!

all done, follwed the step by step in the sticky section, all went according to plan, not convinced i have used enough fluid, seems stiffer but may have to much air or not enough fluid, may top it up and try again

130mm from the top of the fork tube is standard. seemed ok when i did mine.
