Wobbly front wheel

Post by custard »

Just been out for a blast and when doing the speed limit  the front end feels a touch wobbly. It was pretty windy but felt like the front wheel was moving side to side slighty / front wheel was very light.

Could this just be the wind or something I should look at?

have you fitted a spacer in your rear shock, or a new shock with a longer distance between the mountings than standard, sometimes this can make the bike more unstable at "higher" speeds, check the tires for wear, rear suspension linkages for play/movement, head stock and wheel bearings for play, fork seals for leaks and you might find something that needs attention.

if it's none of them then i ain't got a clue mate.

Get the front wheel up and see if there is any side play, which could be the bearings. Are you running 36 psi in the front and 42 psi in the back?

Could well just be the wind though
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Cheers guys. Not tyre wear as front is literally 500 miles old. I'm going to try the front wheel bearings and head bearings too. I'll go for another blast tomorrow if weather still good and see if it's better!

Will keep you informed!
