Piccies, Anyone like old Suzukis?

Post by Beamish »

My mate has just finished restoring his old GSX1100. I think his choice of colours are spot on. It looks great. Oh yeh had to stick some of the Blade on there as well.

He replaced the ageing lecky with electronic ignition, cant remember the details but its a well known fix.

Bloody hell .... you've lost a sh1te load of weight since then - and your hairs grown back 8O

What's your secret?

Guy at work has an old Katana (non runner ATM) not sure of details, but suggested he get it running and flebay it rather than sell as it is - or break it and sell the bits - likely to make heaps more that way.

From what I can gather - some of the Katana's are becoming quite collectable - goodness only knows why  Perhaps cos it was the forerunner to the Gixxer?

Now I love the triple strokers.
Always drooled over the GT750Triple, Liquid Cooled Suzuki.
They may not handle, have lots of horsepower but they are a great kick back to my youth when I drooled over them then too!!!

Now you're talking, my mate's still got the Kettle he bought when they first came out.... bloody lovely it is too, proper mint :)

Still has original pipes for it but hasn't run with them for years, just expansion pipes - lovely sound and corners better, although they still get grounded! 8O

Went to Manx on it last year, just sat behind him listening to the intake roar and breathing in the 2-stroke fumes - bloody excellent :D

Always wanted one ever since I had me GT125 Ram Air  Much preferred it to the Kwakker, mainly cos of aesthetics - middle pot splitting to 2 and a nice balanced look to the silencers, rather than the lopsided Kwak :?

Wouldn't mind a 380 but they're getting rare as hens teeth

[edit] Feck me look at this beauty!

How odd you should say that ! 8)

I have a 380 sort of lined up.
There a bit of work to do to it (like the seating etc) but a nice project eh?

What do ya think?

Yeah that looks nice, a deffinate classic is that :D

Very tidy looking apart from seat as mentioned, at least it's not a rusty wreck :?

Suppose mine's just going to have to wait :( other bikes on the shopping list before that and I ain't got room for all of what I already have at the moment

I feel a house move or a garage extension coming on

Very nice :!: ...i thing is ,the way i remember it in the early eightys, the 2 -strokes wern't particularly sought after, certainly no more than 4 strokes, prob less so :!:
Mate had a gt380,wifes uncle had a gt500..i had rd125 and 250,but to most of us in those days,it was just filling the gap before moving up to a big 4-stroke.
I Did own a Gs550 , Gs650 Kat, Gs850, but can remember around the same time a few mates riding 250/350 lc's.
Wish i'd kept my SS50 and AP50 ,when i see what they're fetchin now :!:

I had a mate that had a Suzi ts250,a right old one with chrome mudguards,i always liked it,i aint seen one like it for years :!:
Also had a mate with KH250,but again, they all made the move up to large capacity Honda cb's,suzuki GS's etc.

Very smart, as an ex GS1000 I have a soft spot for the old muscle bikes.

RedstormV, just out of interest, how much would your mate want for the Katatna????????
