Problem when blipping the throttle on down change

Post by Ernie Cooley »

The bike stalled when I blipped the throttle on the last ride out, it seems to be an "Every now and then" problem rather than every time.

Seems to me like there is some sort of air blockage or sommat? blip the throttle and nothing happens, blip again and it pops n farts or stalls.

First sign of it was when I started it up a couple of weeks ago and it would not go first time (This is unusual as it is normally first go), tried it again and the pop out the back end was so loud my ears were ringing.

Any ideas?

Mine does it too, especially on the approach to junctions. My last storm did it also, but not as frequently. I had heard that it's a known fault with them.....

Mine has a similar symptom, but i have to say, its a lot worse when i have the Art race cans on, than when i have the stock silencers.

It hasnt stalled on me though.

have a read through some of the old posts, there is a hose from the carbs that you can change the route of and this is meant to help it stop stalling when slowing down. or i'm sure someone else will be along soon with a link, i think there is some thing mentioned on greg namesh(sp) site.

found it myself:

Yeah, I've had that too.
I have found that if you shut the throttle while on a roll (say 40-50mph) and whip in the clutch lever the engine revs drop below 900 and sometimes it stalls and sometimes pulls back up to tickover as std (while still rolling of course); my tickover being about 1150rpm.
Strange, so I don't do it now! ha ha
Got worse with older spark plugs fitted.

Yep mine did it but pretty much eradicated with race cans and BMC filter (std jets)
