Heard today off a mate who knows the guys at Lockside Engineering in Castleford that the sidecar racer Steve Norbury was killed over the week end at Hockenheim.
Can't find any reports anywhere,just hope it isn't right,anyone else heard anything?

TT veteran sidecar ace is killed in Germany during weekend races
ELEVEN-TIME TT podium finisher Steve Norbury has been involved in a fatal crash at Hockenheim in Germany, yesterday.
The sidecar ace was racing in the latest round of the German Championship when the accident occurred.
Circumstances surrounding the crash aren't fully known but it's believed Norbury's passenger, Rick Long, suffered serious leg injuries.

Feared the worse .
Saw him at the IOM & Scarborough last year,being local its always good to see a local lad doing well.
Love the road racing scene 'cos the "chairs" are always there ,bottom of Bray Hill this year most of the nutters in the "passenger" side had their heads down under the fairing...TOTAL RESPECT.
I feel its a shame that most bike races don't include the sidecars.they are probably the hardest working bunch in the paddock,they all do their own spannering ,sort their own financing,sponsorship etc.

At every circuit there's a group of spectators watching the racing from the sidelines; they are having a laugh and taking the light-hearted mickey out of those on track. They exchange tales of how they went into that corner faster than anyone else, how they grounded footpegs, exhausts and elbows. They share opinions of the various circuits and how they have been improved or ruined over the years.
They also have the utmost respect for those on track, fully aware of the skill they are demonstrating and the dangers they face should they get things wrong. They know what it's all about and so they should do; it's an exclusive group of ex racers. They also hang about the paddock at the end of the day, sharing the good times around the barbecue, watching and laughing as you get slowly drunk in the bar and make a fool of yourself or others.
Nobody ever sees them, and most aren't even aware they are there, but some of us know differently and often raise a beer to one or two members of the group, a group that now has a new member
