Higher octane fuel in a ' Storm

I have just filled the bike with V POWER fuel. I know opinion will prob be split about using this fuel - I haven't noticed a huge amount of difference in my car other than about an extra 20 miles per tank, it may rev a little cleaner but there certainly isn't a huge difference in the way that it drives.

Has any member used / use this fuel in there 'Storms and noticed a genuine improvement or am I wasting my money ? I can't imagine the fuel will make a big difference on a carbed bike.

The bike is standard engine wise other than a pair of Remus race cans

I've played around with all the different fuels and some do make a small difference.
I found most the higher octane ones improve the bottom end pick up and give a couple of mpg beter when cruising. Go out and thrash it though and the fuel economy is worse and the top end isn't as great.
The VTR in std trim isn't tuned enough to benifit much from high octane so if you don't feel the difference I'd say save your money for tyres

I always thought that Optimax made the Storm better and smoother

Higher octane fuels are great for higher compression engines - I don't think the storm quite falls into that category. You can compress them further without early detonation and get a better burn from them.

The other benefit though is that they contain more additives and can be a little better in terms of cleaning the engine as they go.

I've heard a couple of mechanics mention that they run a touch hotter, and that can be a bad thing for valve seats, but I don't think it's a huge issue.

Certainly a tank every now and again could be a good thing. Personally, I use regular premium and add some redex fuelk cleaner every couple of thousand miles in all my bikes. That really does make a difference in performance!

I will maybe run another tank or 2 of V - Power and sees how it goes.

It may be the case that I notice no difference until I go back to standard 95 RON unleaded
