Neutral Light

Post by Masu »

Gents;

My 98 Storm has the nasty habit of not showing a netural light when in netural, this is a pain in traffic. Sometimes it comes on, some times it don't and worst, sometimes is flickers on and off. It happens when it is cold, hot, putting through traffic, or just after a rage through the twists.

Any thoughts on somehting that is loose, or could be adjusted or could be cleaned?

Cheers JS Stu.

Stu,

If you haven't found the problem, it'll need a new switch if the wiring is ok. The switch is located on the left side of the engine, the connector is like a female bullet (covered in black plastic - this is the one you want), just above the gear selector shaft. Just ground the connector to the engine or frame and the light should come on, if it comes on and stays on, check it with the engine running (to add some normal vibration) then change the switch. First check that it's above the oil level or you will need to drain the oil first. Just use a deep socket and then use a little blue hylomar (however ya spell it) when you insert the newen, but don't over tighten it. It's a normal switch, nothin fancy and just operates from the gear selector drum in the gearbox.
