Rhencullen race products
Hi all,was wondering if anybody knows if Rhencullen are still going, they used to produce some smart looking engine case covers in carbon fibre.Been on there website, and it looks like it hasnt been updated since 1999.Was pretty sure it was them who produced them, anybody know of any other companies that do.Have seen them german ones on ebay, but not sure about the quality.Cheers

Dunno mate,
Wondered where the CC covers originated from myself.
However a quote from their website :
"Rhencullen have one of the best collections of Hornet race kit around.
They stock body kit from some of the best companies around the globe."
suggests that they didn't manufacture them anyway, and merely bought in and distributed.
Perhaps the manufacturer is no no more?
A niche market for an enterprising soul perhaps?

Re: Rhencullen race products
Think it's the CC covers that's at issue here, or at least the sourcing of them, not the demise of Rhencullen, said that it may be, I think we've established that they are no more.yorkylancs wrote:Hi all,was wondering if anybody knows if Rhencullen are still going, they used to produce some smart looking engine case covers in carbon fibre.Been on there website, and it looks like it hasnt been updated since 1999.Was pretty sure it was them who produced them, anybody know of any other companies that do.Have seen them german ones on ebay, but not sure about the quality.Cheers

Although having said that, the title of the post suggests it's Rhencullen

Thought i would have a do at making some bits up,rather than waiting for summat to turn up,so bought some carbon cloth and some resin of ebay.Didnt cost much so doesnt matter if i screw up,had an idea to try summat simple first like some heel plates[img][/img]The one on the left is made up of 2 plies and seemed quite strong,i used some of that modellers foam to get the (basic) shape, then vacuum bagged it to pull the cloth to something like,it has a few imperfections in it,but once laquered didnt look to bad.Not to bad for a first attempt, the one on the right is 3 ply,and is a fair bit stronger again, needs laquer though. The shape looks naff though, but it was just a trial. Will try one nearer to the standard heel plate design.Am a long way off making owt as intricate as a engine casing though,on hols at moment so it beats watching daytime telly![/img]

I know he still goes on line cos I have in in MSN contacts, but not been on here for a while.sirch345 wrote:Sometime ago another member on here was also experimenting with carbon fibre. We've not heard anymore so I don't know how he got on![]()
Can anyone else remember who that was![]()
Chris.
There were one or two others talking about it - I think the problem is more the autoclace side for most peeps. I know someone who was tinkering had access to a decent sized one though.
Hey Yorky, have you checked out the 'How to do Carbon Fibre' videos on YouTube?
Search on Forum for Carbon Fibre, they're linked on at least 1 thread.
Graeme.
Well remembered Graeme
Although after doing a search it sounds like BarryH has given up (in a reply on the 2nd page of link below), but it was John'o (VeetyR) who started a thread on it originally, see link:-
