If you have a multi-meter have you checked at the battery terminals to see if there is a 12 volt supply coming from it :?:
Have you checked for lose battery terminals, or if you fitted a new loom how about the connections at the opposite end of the battery leads, make sure they are tight also :!:

When you say all electric's went dead do you mean not even the ignition lights come on when you turn the key on :?:

Info here about the main 30amp fuse too:-

Could be a live touching to earth? Check the wiring around the subframe, that could be the source, especially if the new loom came from a bike with an alarm patched into the wiring. Any dubious reconnections should be checked and make sure theres no bare wire anywhere!
Perseverance takes too long....

Just to broaden your options in sourcing a replacement part - similar aged VFR ones are the same - possibly blackbird, blade ones also fit but check.

Disconnect as much as possible then reconnect one bit at a time
hopefully that should isolate your problem

Glad you've got it sorted mate

Was probably just the battery lead that caused it - but at least you know you've checked the loom now.
