oil lines

Post by yorkylancs »

I need some oil lines to replace the ugly ones that run from sump to cooler, can anyone tell me,have i to cut the original pipe at the cooler end and use them ones with the jubilee clip built into the anodised fitting. If not what is the best plan of attack.Looked at the Earls website last night, and its all in a foreign language! Old style imperial, can anyone give me a pointer with regard to sizes, end fittings etc.. :D :D

Sorry I forgot mention how I did my pipes in the last message.

I carefully cut the crimped pipe ends from the braided section of both tubes.
This allows the chrome ends to be removed, I then went to my local hydraulics supplier who put new braiding on the ends I supplied.

Cost about £20 if I remember.

Not sure if jubilee clips would do the job 100%.

[img][/img] Managed to sort out some oil line fittings, going to use some aeroquip ones as they are cheaper and as good looking as the pricier earl ones, will need to drill and tap the oilcooler in/outlets.Radiator is fixed in position using the oil cooler mount on the frame, will be looking for some of that fancy overbraid you can get.Still searching for a front wheel, there is not many out there, loads of early blade 16inchers,must be a popular mod to fit the 17 inch to earlier blades. It also pushes the price up as well.Anyone got one? Also shifted the battery more underseat, and jacked back end up some more.Need a bikini fairing i like the look of the mv brutale one, very sharp and aggressive. There doesnt seem to be many after market ones that float my boat, and i want to keep the original h/lamp as it is top notch.Looking for inspiration on that one.On the whole it dont look to bad naked, lots to do yet tho. yorky

I hope you don't mind Yorky, but I've brightened up your pic a little so it can be seen in more detail. I like your workshop

It's looking very good to me so far :!: 8)
You're right about the 17" wheels being a popular mod for the Blades with the 16" front wheel. Keep searching though, I'm sure one will turn up from somewhere. Didn't FirestormMike and Alan say others will also fit.

Keep up the good work,

Chris.

The original right side one, without the fan assembly.Oh dear i feel terminal engine damage coming on! Daz aka stormsmasher reckons he had no real probs running it that way,one front one for 2 side mounted ones, minus the air dam and fairing! will see how it goes, but it should get more air flow, and you lose about 0.5litre capacity, will be watching the temp gauge with a keen eye! :D

Gas fire at one end and oven at the other. Can you not just get normal tyre warmers like everyone else?

Cheers chris, needs some tarting up yet.Did toy with the idea of putting some different bearings in the original wheel, and making up spacers to suit. But best to go with the proper set up.Last wheel on fleabay went for £119,got beaten at last minute, was a buy it now price, seemed a bit steep, but wish i had gone for it now, will all be right int end.

Thats it for now,the steering lock lug on the bottom yoke fouls against the lug on the frame, that holds the fairing bracket, but it will give a lot more when it has been attacked with a sander. There is about 20mm clearance at the moment between bottom yoke and radiator. It will go lock to lock quite easy once fettled.
