Its me again, still having problems

Post by Collywog19 »

Hi guys. Im still having problems with my VTR

been off the road for months now.

Its running better than it was.

Now i go to pull away, it pulls away fine, but when at about 3k it drops to 1 cylinder.

I changed, both cdis, swapped coils(over still same cylinder that was dropping out after swap ), 2 brand new iridium plugs. Vaccum hose is on the right bit of tank.It ticks over lovely and sounds beautiful lol.

So i might get a hold of some NEW ht lead tmoro and redo both.

Any other ideas of what it might be?

Timing be out? if so any help towards checking it?

thanks guys

Colin

Cheers

But it happened out of the blue, i didnt touch anything to get the timing out etc.

And the first time it happened, i let the bike cool down and it ran fine after than.

Ok i checked timing, at RT the rear cam lobes faced away from each other then i moved it to FT and the front cam lobes were facing towards each other, I havent touched anything concerning CCT.

So it seems like it hasnt jumped out of time or anything similar. obv if i turned it again then the rears would face each other and the fronts would face away from each other?

so im gonna replace ht leads and caps with the 4 i have here from a zx6r.

then move onto something else. What about pickup etc?

Thanks

I don't think it will be timing from your description.
It sounds like you've covered the electrical too.
Have you checked your carb diaphragms or slide movement? 3K is right where the carbs start changing from pilot jets to mains.
