firestorm cuts out
would anyone know why my firestorm every now and again cuts out when in first gear, but fires straight up again?

Re: firestorm cuts out

4 wheels move the body, 2 wheels move the soul...........
Re: firestorm cuts out
You mean it can't be cured?? DAM IT.
Re: firestorm cuts out
Balance the carbs regularly and increase the idle speed. Mine's set at 1450 revs, and hasn't cut out for months.
The idle speed increase also helps to lessen the chance of rear wheel lockup under heavy braking; gives a bit less "skipping" in my experience.

Re: firestorm cuts out
Also if air filter and /or spark plugs are getting done, that seems to make the cutting out happen more often.
If your problem is the standard thing that many of us experience from time to time, it also happens when the bike is ticking over,
Chris.

Hehe - rear wheel lock up - mine cut out at about 20mph in traffic - I just dumped the clutch like I would on a 4 - huuuuuge skid (and one in my boxerstony.mon wrote:Balance the carbs regularly and increase the idle speed. Mine's set at 1450 revs, and hasn't cut out for months.

Upping the idle speed is good. If it dies with a clunk, then this will cure it.
I'm sure it won't cut out over the mountain, if it does it's not an idle issue.... give it some and get the front wheel up!

No bike (yet).
Re: firestorm cuts out
Can't say for sure that this is a cure, but after I fitted a 4 degree ignition advancer from Factory Pro mine doesn't do this at all any more.....

Cliveyandrews.
Did the same with mine too after just having filled up with fuel. They don't 'bump' well but do leave black tyre marks!!!!!!
Tony M.
More details as to how hard to fit? What's involved and what sort of money etc??????

Have a look around and you'll find the vtr1000f page.
Advancer seems to be about 65 dollars.
Try mine on Sunday and see if you can notice the difference! I'll be at the South Woodham Ferrers Essex meet-up.
Certainly better mileage, but as I said, no cut-outs either, although I have the tickover set a bit higher than standard as I said.
And I think better mid-range acceleration and general throttle response.
