New to my storm and have noticed that on occasion I get a small back fire and the bike nearly cuts out.
Looked at some of the previous posts and upped the idle to 1200 - doesnt seem to do it as much but my idle is very unstable.
this sound like a carb balancing issue ???
thanks
Chris
occasional back fire and unstable idle
Re: occasional back fire and unstable idle
Well, that would be a good place to start before trying anything else
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Re: occasional back fire and unstable idle
Better get used to it, they all do it occasionally.
But balancing and upping idle helps lots.
Some people seem to get a result form fuel additives as well, but tbh I've never thought the expense was worth it, considering all you have to do is push a button with your thumb whenever it happens

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: occasional back fire and unstable idle
As already said balancing the carbs can help, also if the air filter and spark plugs are getting done, replacing those can help too,
Chris.
