Datatool Alarm gremlins

Post by B120CR »

Hi. My bike is sadly & frustratingly stranded 35 miles away due to me not being able to dis-arm the alarm and start the girl. I have recently changed the battery in the key fob and am happy this is fine.
Im not getting any 'bleeps' when pressing the arm/dis-arm buttons. The ignition, lights etc are all fine, but the start button dead. The alarm will not activate if the bike is disturbed which usually is quite sensitive.
Appreciate your comments - Thanks
(Instructions on how to remove the damn alarm completely would be a God-send!)

Is this one of the local interference situations?

I know it's a pain, but try pushing the bike a couple of hundred yards down the road.

Bloody mobile masts!
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

My Meta packed up a couple of years ago and wouldn't disarm, so I stripped it out completely - pretty easy really when you get started as you will see which wires have been cut to wire the alarm in and they just need resoldering.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Thanks guys
I had to rely on the car mech next door to come to the recsue (You'd understand if you saw me stood in the p***ing rain armed with a blunt pair of scissors!)
Alarm chopped out and immobilser by-passed very basically simply to get it running and home. I am yet to make all good with solder and some fresh tape & hope this quick fix won't have long term effects.
Worrying really when once the seat is off, my datatooled workhorse could be "hot-wired" in less than 2 minutes. (Or in my case, grateful to the car mech, I'm heading home and he has a tenner in his pocket for a pint on me)
