Cheaper than APE manual CCT's

Post by goody »

Getting my VTR soon (see hello section) and still undecided what's the best solution for the CCT's. It's done 33K one owner (a mate) he thinks they've been replaced at some point but can't remember if it was just one or both.
Anyway saw this on ebay and apparently he can make them to any design;

What would you go for if they are the same price as new stock tensioners from David Silver. I do around 3k a year so I'm guessing that checking the tension with manuals once a year would be ok and not too much of a hassle.

What's the procedure for setting the tension with manuals?

I've not fitted Ape style (fixed tensioners) myself. But iirc from those who have, Ape recommend 1/4" to 3/8" deflection of the cam chain between the two cam wheels with the chain guide removed. Most experts who fit fixed tensioners usually do the fine tuning by ear. If you do decide to fit fixed tensioners I would suggest you match the cam chain deflection you already have, providing your standard ones are working properly.

Your link looks promising for having fixed tensioners machined for the Storm. They seem a good price :!:

Chris.
