The riders visibility was excellent, but how boring!

I thought the slowing down sign was a little dodgey, people wound't understand and you have to take your hand of the front brake. These are intersting:

Police accident database figures for 2004 to 2007 Trends for the strategic trunk road network
•1 in 15 accidents involved a Powered Two Wheeler (PTW) user, approximately 3 accidents per day
•36% of Powered Two Wheeler (PTW) user casualties were killed or seriously injured
•16% all males killed in all accidents on the Trunk Road Network were PTW users
•The power two wheeler KSI casualty rate is 35 times higher than cars
•31% of PTW riders involved in accidents were 31 to 40 year olds
•4.9 % of all casualties, motorcyclists are 30 times more likely to be killed or seriously injured than car occupants
•There were 37 adult fatalities in 2007
•There were 346 adults seriously injured in 2007
•One in four accidents involved no other vehicle
•Almost half of accidents involving a motorcyclist occurred at a junction

Watch those junctions!
No bike (yet).

Interesting indeed, how many of the PTW incidents involved 16 yr olds on Scooters/mopeds? I bet that stat isnt mentioned. 50% of the ped brigade never move on to a real motorcycle they jump into cars and fit alpine stereos with a 'sick tube and kickin amp' . We have no metal shell and WILL get injured if we have an accident.
Sorry for the rant but we have had lots of recent fatalities (car and bike) in the local area and the two biggest accidents were in a 40 zone within village boundaries. I bet the government still push for a blanket 50 mph on all national speed limit country roads though
