Broke Me Freakin TPS Bone...

Post by ex-viffer »

The other day (which one, dunno), I broke my Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), so now my FarhtSturm does not have one. How did I do this? Well, apparently it's a not too uncommon problem. You just have to tighten up the TPS screws or the bolts that hold the brackets that hold the two carbs together (either will do - I chose the latter), without first ensuring the TPS and throttle spindle tabs are correctly aligned.

Surprisingly enough (or maybe not), the bike actually runs quite nicely without it, apart from being reluctant to pull power wheelies. I guess the situation where the TPS most comes into play is where the throttle is cracked wide open, signalling to the black box summat like, "Ere!! The Frotl is been opened up, lads! Make steam! Send Ergs! Whup the slaves into life!!"
However, with the TPS connected and constantly reading 430 ohms (or that the throttle is in the idle position), the bike is less happy, and probably confused. The "Hello!? The TPS appears to have fallen off" mode must be less confusing for the Black Box. I dunno; I just want my wheelies back...

So, anyone got a spare TPS lying around? :?: :?:
