Rear shock adjustment

Post by Giddsy »

Hi there,

I'm trying to adjust the rear pre-load with the standard Honda C spanner. Thing is it is well stiff. Am I doing something wrong - for example do I need to take the weight off the rear end?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

James

Thanks for that Tim, still no joy tho, had a mate help me and we tipped it up on the sidestand so there was no weight on rear and the b@stard still wouldn't go. If you go from the right side of the bike there isn't enough room for the spanner to move around before hitting the frame and from the left it is more awkward to get weight behind it.

I almost succeeded with a bit of old scaffold pole as a lever from the left but then the battery casing stopped that....

Off on a road trip 2 up on Sunday so need to get this sorted, think it might be a quick trip to the bike shop if no one has any bright ideas... Also it is on the super soft setting which I hadn't realised when I bought it so def needs doing.

'Tis annoying as would like to be able to adjust whilst on the trip...

Cheers,

James

Good advice from Tim I agree, but I also found using the standard C spanner needed a big-ish nut (around 6mm to 8mm thick) under the C part at the point that makes contact with the shock adjuster (opposite end of the peg that locates into the adjuster).

Job done - handy pole from the wardrobe fitted the spanner perfectly and it went easily...

Test ride later... :D

Thanks for the tips anyway guys

Most Honda toolkits have a flattened tube thing that acts as a handle for the c spanner.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
