How many times have you been stopped by a bike cop?

Post by Seeker 77 »

Right then, time to own up! I am doing a bit of market research having just been stopped by the same bike cop for minimal speeding for the the 4th time in a month 8O
This in addition to my 500 euro speeding fine perhaps suggests that i am riding a little too fast. No fine this time though, just a stern warning!

Note the bike cop part, not just any old plod. I want to see if i am going to get my collar felt as much at home as i have abroad!

Three for me....but that's in the last 25 years :biggrin
Twice because the cops were board and just wanted a chat ( i reckon) and once because he wanted to know what other fool was out in such atrocious conditions. Ha? when I told him I didn't own a car he just said 'Yeah, that what most people say this time of year'.
Your Too speedy for your own good , if you ask me mellis or just not as sneaky as me :shh:

I've never been stopped by a bike cop :!:
Not too many around here....yet 20 mins up the M77, in Glasgow, i suppose there are quite a few going about, ive certainly seen them Loch Lomond area.

I've not been stopped/done for speeding in 25 years ,i'm not saying i dont,(well i honestly dont in built up areas),i've just never been stopped/caught .

Having said that......3 of us on our ride-out yesterday went past a van parked in a lay-by near Loch Lomond, the two rear hatched widows were open ,aye ,looked like a camera poking out each one :(

We were doing just over 70 in a 60 limit (long straight ,we actually usually go a bit faster on it).....hopefully they were forward facing only :?

So 4 times in the last month and then 5 other times in the last 4 years is perhaps a little OTT. I suspect that i would get a rather different answer on the Gixerjunkies website.................

3 for me also,
2 were just concerns that my 125 rd lc was wobbling lots at high speed but then impressed by its sheer looks.
3rd was an unmarked one that did me for speeding,
only reason he caught me up was cause i slowed down as i entered a 40mph zone and was doing just over it and he did me for that,
he said he couldnt do me for the major speeding cause he was caught in traffic and couldnt keep up with me so didnt know how fast i was going while out of site.
but he said he was riding fast to find me and said its a good job he didnt see me cause i would be f**cked

Never been stopped by a bike cop, but rode down to Portsmouth and then round Brittany for 4 days with 6 of the West Mids finest motorcycle escort riders.

They like to ride their bikes just like we do.........if you stick to the limits in built up areas and road works, dont ride like a tw@, show good observation of hazards [well not that good or you would have spotted them!], they should be more open minded than the car plod.
Well thats what they told me!!! but it did feel strange doing 110 with 2 cops following me as we rode home from the ferry, it was like sitting you test all over again.

Never stopped, but an unmarked Blade followed me on my way to Devil's Bridge and pulled up next to me at the petrol station and advised I keep it down a bit.

Pretty cool really as he could have had me in front of a magistrate if he wanted.

Perfect conditions, very quiet traffic, good road with no dangerous junctions or farm entrances, safe but quick - discretion used. Result. :)

(Unlike the motorway traffic volvo that did me on the M74)

I got stopped by a bike cop in leathers driving a car (trousers only). I was riding a DT125 @ 38 in a 30 the day I bought a CBR400 ready for direct access. It took the points on my licence to 11.

Riding without L plates (swapped bikes with a mate who had passed his test. Forgot to change L plates) - 2 points
Riding without a valid licence. My providsional entitlement had run out - 6 points
Speeding - 3 points

Doh! Had to really behave myself on the 400

That was along time ago. I have grown up since then. Honest!!

Myself, not as yet however I thought that I could enlighten some of you who are maybe unaware of speed traps and ANPR vehicles. We won't go into the Volvo driving traffic officer, it's a mandatory requirement to have a sense of humour by-pass prior to joining traffic or RPU. :shifty:
I noted that Biker Piker spotted a vehicle with two rear facing cameras in the back doors at high level (you have a PM re that). If you see one of these, don't panic. It isn't a speed trap. It's an ANPR vehicle (automatic number plate recognition). You'll see this and pass it having a moment of paranoia and then you'll find a gang/gaggle/bunch of Police officers further along the road.
They aren't looking for us but they are looking at us as it's a lovely day and they all know what they'd be doing if they weren't working.
The van looks at number plates from which they can tell who's got no tax, insurance or MOT and also who's vehicle is stolen and which ones are being driven by scumbag criminals. They will get bikers too because there's nearly always a forward facing camera too.
So relax unless you're one of the above (I doubt anyone on here) in which case you're screwed and frankly deserve to be.
Speed traps on the other hand...... Most of these now have 750 - 900 yard/metre range and so they've seen you long before you have them. Other than that it remains to be there mainly to protect us good people of this fair isle. Hope this helps and ride safe, it's a jungle out there..... :wink2
