Decisions decisions!!! HELP
Im thinking of parting with my beloved storm to get a GSXR 750! but not sure if im making a mistake? im going on a trip to france next year and dont want to be stopping all the time because of the storms crap tank range! but on the flip side i love its torque and the sound etc! what do u reckon guys?

Re: Decisions decisions!!! HELP
keep the storm, your gonna get a good 100 mile out the tank touring so good time to stretch your legs at the same time, suzuki aint got the same build qualiy as honda and you'll sure miss the torque!
you could always trade for an SP1

Re: Decisions decisions!!! HELP
i thought about carrying extra fuel, but was gonna let my mate carry it, just to be on the safe side

Re: Decisions decisions!!! HELP
That only works if he spots the fact that you are not following him anymore.was gonna let my mate carry it

If you buy it then i will pour paint stripper all over it and slash the tyres....bikerman wrote:im still not sure, the GSXR is very clean and very tempting! come on guys, talk me out of it!!!
Is that enough incentive NOT too buy it?

I was getting 120 miles to Red light when running through france with the Midlands Bike Police drinking tour. The Storm was great on all aspects of the trip and better than the other bikes when the roads got twisty.
and anyway, most people want to stop for a piss / fag / leg strech at 100 miles. so you dont have any problems.
As for swapping Storm fro GSXR:
If your heart is telling you to get a new bike, it will be hard to stop you, but it will be more focused on sports riding, and wont have the big V2 thrill.
I think the Storm is a good compromise for most tasks, a modern day UJM [but with character]. I think it is the bike equivelent of a TVR, not the fastest or the best handeling, but it makes an great noise and makes you smile even if you dont go above 100mph [which will save you getting banned!]
your call, but we can take bets to see if you come back

DOOONNN'T DOOO IIIIT
Why in godss name would you want one of those pretty, revvy, twitchy buggers when you've got a pretty? sedate, fast, beautiful sounding twin?

Put me in an empty room with a brick and i'll either break it, lose it or hurt myself on it!!!

Re: Decisions decisions!!! HELP
I couldn't possibly comment about what you should do........................
Don't believe the bolx about the build quality, i had far more problems with my Firestorm than i have ever had with any of my GSXRs. You will be fairly comfortable but the suspension and brakes work so that will be a bit of a shock after owning the Storm
And before you all start shouting at me i have owned a Storm and an SP and put about 20000 miles between the pair! If you want speed, a fair bit of comfort and great handling get the GSXR. If you want soul keep the Storm.
And now for some more porn

Re: Decisions decisions!!! HELP
cheers for the comments guys, ive got till the weekend to think it over!
Re: Decisions decisions!!! HELP
I had a firestorm road bike, and now have a firestorm track bike and an SP2 for the road.
I had a go on my mates GSXR750 and I did like it but unless you are above 10K revs, you don't seem to go anywhere. And then at that revs, you are flying, dangerously so - maybe it feels like it, but you do being to chase the revs.....
If you are used to revving something, i.e. you've had an IL4 or a 2stoke before, you might regret it... if you want instant power at any revs, a V-twin is where it's at...
I did like the 750, it was an easy to ride bike, but I prefer the SP mainly because I'm a V-twin man. Always have been, probably always will be....(this was a 56 plate I think) so relatively modern...
(Also, he got off my SP2 and wants a V-twin for the road).
You only miss something when it's gone.....

Think that's one of the first things I noticed when I went on a Blade Mellismellis wrote:but the suspension and brakes work so that will be a bit of a shock after owning the Storm

As regards the Gixxer-only had a short blast on a 600 so I could'nt really comment on the 750. I reckon if you fancy something different go for it

SP1's rock!
Re: Decisions decisions!!! HELP
I also, in the same day had a go on a new Kwak 600, ZX6r? Now that was a blast! Unlike the 750 it begged to be thrashed and you felt comfortable in giving it full throttle at every opportunity. It was fun holiding it at about 110-12K in on a nice B road, then snapping the throttle back to raise the front. That was fun, fun, fun.
It depends what you want from the bike. If it's just a thrash on Sundays, I'd prefer the 600, the 750 is a better alround bike for sure... I don't have much experience of other bikes, but I wouldn't turn my nose up at a modern 600! Although they are tiny bikes...
Good luck and as JB says, give it a go, why not....you are potentially not going to loose much money...
