CCT's (Bear with me :P)

Post by IgorVigor »

Hello.

I will be replacing my CCT's hopefully soon with Manual ones as I have got the tell-tale rattle of the cam chain...

I dont want to simply fit stoppers in the one I have got as its not really a cure for the problem....

I will be fitting them myself, thats not the problem...

What I want to ask, is where is cheapest for them?

Debben.co.uk have them @ £48.60 each :S

Which seems a lot more than I remember them being when I looked a few weeks ago :S...

Any help?

Seeing that they are both high up...

just a thought...when i did mine i put a large cable tie tightly around the camchain(rear cylinder only) to keep tension on it and help stop it jumping over the sprocket when removing the cct...hope this helps..

Thanks for the replies, I have fitted a pair of manual CCT's from Debben

Nice quality :)

Just took a bit to adjust the front tensioner :P
Big hands and small areas dont always work together ;)

I adjusted the tensioners by backing them off until I heard a camchain rattle and then turned them in a bit, just past where it stops...

The bike seems to run nicely (better than before :D) which means something is working :P

Well done, now you won't have to do it again, just the very occasional adjustment.

One less thing to worry about...
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Can only agree with that - I'm sure mine runs better with the manual ones, perhaps because ans Sirch (Chris) has noted, the sprung ones do retract a bit under certain conditions and maybe (pure guess) this changes the timing ever so slightly?
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

The main thing I noticed after fitting them is the idle speed increased slightly...

before the manual cct's the idle was 1300~1400rpm, after fitting its increased to 1400~1500rpm...

small difference but a difference non the less...

peace of mind is definately the best part though...
