Partial Bafflectomy

Post by DPR11 »

Well after getting my storm back, i decided to get busy with a 9mm drill bit on the stock cans.

Just a quick question should one be louder than the other????

The right hand can is definatly louder than the left :?

Please someone cheer me up and tell me that everything is going to be fine

When i had the holes drilled in mine ,(before i removed the end baffle completely),i don't think one side was louder than the other , i certainly never noticed :?

I don't think i'd let it bother me anyway ,i'm sure it'll be fine

Could always drill more holes in the other side or make them bigger to compensate for the sound difference :P :D

If you take the RH can off and look into the collector you will see that there's some material that intrudes into the pipe, and this restricts gas flow to one side more than the other.

You can feel the difference just by placing the palms of your hands near the outlets (Health and Safety notice- Careful, these may be hot!) and feel the pulses at tickover.

There is info in the Workshop bit about the merits or not of grinding this blocking material out. (Better, more even, less restrictive gas flow vs. tuned back pressure scavenging losses).

Depends IMHO whether you want mid-range torque or top-end.....
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
